THIS is the reason that the pot valua's variate very much on the drives!

When DVD drives are assembled by Philips,Thompson or Samnsung; those chinese girls just quickly turn the LEFT pot in a certain starting position; say between 10-12 O'clock. This gives a rough Ohm valua, which can vary a lot.

Then after this the DVD drive is finetuned on total Ohmresistance with the RIGHT pot. The right pot must be turned much more then the left one, to compensate the big variation of the left one. The resultance resistance of the 2 pot's are manually ste within the range of official drive specs. (example; the left pot in/decreases the resistance with say 100 ohm's/1 degree; the right one just 20 ohms/1 degree)

Which just goes to show you have no clue what the pots do and how they are set.
You just made that up uhh.gif

just wanted you t know that i succesfully modded a philips vad6011/21, it reads everything now - this works without increasing the bias / strength voltage.
i also modded philips vad6035/21, it reads everything. this mod has been tested by an other person - it seems that it didnt work with blue cds which i even dont have one from.

i wont make a tutorial as i havent got people who can proof this. contact me if you want details, after it works for all i will publish this mod.

Switched a Thompson drive for a newer phillips drive, Thompson was acting up often. At first the phillips wouldn't read anything but retail games and movies. Did the Pot tweak, wound up with a drive that not only reads DVD + or - R's but it even reads CD-R's now. my tweaks ended up at 748 left and 574 right. started at 1174 left and 696 right. Not a major tweak but was enough to make a world of difference..seems faster when init'ing too.

I Apparently have a new Philips Dvd drive in my xbox v1.4, as it looks nothing like my friends philips dvd drive in his xbox v1.1

Can anyone confirm whether there is a new philips dvd drive in the new xboxes??

If so, does anyone have a tweaking tutorials for the new philips dvd drive?

Nope, you've gotta figure that out yourself; every drive differs from one another, evne if they're of the same make, and thus one pot setting probably won't work for someone else.

As a note; those who are asking how to tweak their drives: Have you even looked in the Tutorials section os Xbox Scene? :|
