how can he put all the original files back on if he is unable to boot the xbox at all (evox/original etc)?! you need to be able to boot evox or similar in order to transfer files to the xbox. Read the entire question before you reply.

smile.gif When it doesnt find the time it is trying to load the dashboard from the HDD skipping the DVD check.

If this is the case then I should be able to stick in another HDD, properly formatted with dashboard files, reset the time, put the original disc back in, boot via evox cd, ftp to xbox and fix the dash.

Can someone check mmy reasoning here? Does this make sense?

I agree wild fire and I may end up doing something similar to what u suggest, but I want to save the data on the HDD as well. save games and things like that, not just mine but friends as well.

Just burn a evox disc, ur modchip isnt scr*wed so it can open the evox on the cd/dvd. When in evox, just ftp the evox files on ur xbox, and ur done.

If you can re-flash your modchip, the newer BIOS's can handle that clock error, and let you boot up properly.

EDIT: whoops, missed bi786's reply.

I am having the exact problem right now and tried everything(reflashing bios, evox disc,ect.). When I re-flashed my bios with x2 4979 it only booted once correctly then quit once again. Any help would be very much appreciated!

Ok, I am in the same boat with you guys.  I can't do anything with my box.  I get the red/green flashing power upon start up.  No way to read any DVD/CDRW as I get the famous error to call for tech support.  This was working perfectly with my X2 Pro installed for over 10 months, then just one day "poof"  Dead!!!

I have tried a new HDD, and even unhooked my chip thinking it might be it.  Still a no go.  I am unable to flash the chip I think as I remember doing it some time ago via the box its self.  I do have an external programmer though!!!  Hmmm so just to be sure.  The above posts did say to reflash the chip with the newest Evox.  Well I guess I am in search of it first, then give it a try.  Anyone have other ideas I would love to hear them.

Fixed it. My xbox is up and running again smile.gif I will post how to in the FAQ forums.

Why does NOONE reads the error 16 tutorials that are available in the pinned topics!?

It states: or use your OLD hdd that you kept in place as in emergency backup to set the time OR use m6 BIOS that will boot past the clock settings.

*sigh*

rolleyes.gif ) and it started getting Error 13.

Okay, still played games, and I was planning on getting a Chameleon chip anyways, and I hear modding and getting a new dash would fix it.

For some reason, after it being unplugged for a day, I tried playing it and I now get Error 16, and the HDD or DVD drive is making lots of noise.

What the hell?  From what I've read, it seems these errors happen for reasons to do with having a modded Xbox, yet mine isn't.

Anyways, if I get the chip and mod it, load up a new BIOS and dash, it should fix it, right?

Any tips, ideas, comments, etc.?

Thanks.

I figured I'd post this in here rather than start a new thread... maybe I can get some help!

Okay, I have an unmodded Xbox.

I believe something fell on it (my hand  ) and it started getting Error 13.

I'm pretty surethe error 16 is related to a clock problem. Basically your xbox boots up, realizes that the clock is not set so then it trys to boot to the dashboard but cannot find it so you get the error 16. When you get your Chameleon flash the chip with either the evox M7 bios or x2 4979.
