i did 3 hd's. 2 locked, 1 didn't.

80GB WD800JB - locked w/ unlockx
160GB Samsung SP1604N - locked w/ unlockx
60GB Seagate ST360021A - not lockable (unlockx, hdlock)

as far as i know if it doesn't lock you can't play it on live. but at least you get to use it...us fellas w/ softmods are completely screwed w/ not lockable hd's.

Maxtor 6Y160L0 is lockable with ConfigMagic, Whats weird is mine says it's a 6Y200L0, But Maxtor does not have that model, But the 6Y160L0 is the exact same

very cheap drive... $71 for 120 GB. its a magnetic data technologies hard drive, or mdt. model MDMB06-1200. locked with config magic. sorta loud though

Sorry if the answer is too obvious, but:

I recently bought a v1.4 crystal xbox, which has a white 10Gb Seagate in it. I assume I have to install a mod chip to use a bigger drive. (Correct?).
If I keep my old drive intact, will it remain locked?

you dont have to get a modchip to get a bigger hd but its uesless to have a unmodded xbox with a big hd also the hd in sstock xbox are already unlock

Does anyone have a link to buy the wd3000BB drive, or any other lockable 300gb drive? I've searched all over, but can not find anything on this WD3000BB. It is listed here as lockable, but a search on google gives 3 results, and two of them are from XBOX-SCENE...... Western Digital does not even have information (that I could find) about this drive. does it exist?
