Man that is great... I now know how to build a PB&J....  But what do I do with it now???  It doesn't say where to put it....  I guess I'll try the original XBox DVD-ROM and see what comes of it....

Evox version 3935 also has the option to lock and unlock the hard drive but you must enable it in the evox.ini file first.

I don't know how good it is because I've never actually used it.  Has any here?

I'm sure it fine...

ConfigMagic is basically the set standard though.

chad2001, according to my list, that HDD has been reported as lockable AND not lockable.  I would purchase that at your own risk.

All HDD's are the same width and length (for the msot part), but the height varies.  Generally, the larger the HDD (GB's) the taller it gets.

I just bought this drive -

Hitachi Deskstar 200GB 8MB cache 7200rpm

model no - HDS722525VLAT80

according to Hitachi website this is a Deskstar 7K250

Both of the lockability lists do not have this drive. They dont even have IBM (which is wha the deskstar brand used to be) in the 200gb size.

Does anyone have any info on this drive/family?

love.gif The Western Digital 307AA is also lockable through hdlock.

Unlock and disable with hdunlock and hddisabl the original xbox HD.  Use the full version of Winhex 11.2 SR4 to copy original xbox HD to new HD after zeroing the first 4096 sectors with hdprepar. Then use liveinfo2 beta to generate new lock password for HD, lock new HD with new password.  This is just a summary of course, look for tuts here and all over the web.   Real easy.

My Specs

Xbox 1.0
Dead Thompson DVD Drive
30GB 5400RPM HD
PBL 1.3
Evox 3935

Price of entire upgrade so far=$50 for dead XBOX + $10 for PSU + HD was free from friend = $60

Price of playing N64, SNES and NES games on an XBOX = priceless beerchug.gif

i have a Maxtor 6Y120L0, and 2 boxes- one with no chip, just modded via the font exploit (1.4), and one unmodded (1.1)- with an X-ecuter 2.3 on the way.  I put a backup image of the 1.5 box before i did any modification on it to my new hd, and tried to use hdlock.exe to lock it, but i always get "drive not ready" and it doesn't work.
Everybody seems to agree that ConfigMagic is the way to go, but that means i'd have to have evox and a mod chip in the xbox to boot up without having it already locked right?  Is there any other tool i can use to lock the new hd from my pc and just use it like a retail xbox untill the chip gets here?  Or can i lock a drive on my pc remotely using configmagic from the xbox?

thanks  for any help
