I'll try to spell this out to reiterate what heinrich was saying...

if the nic out to the internet has an ip of 192.168.0.1
then make the other nic you have going to your xbox 192.168.1.2
then in your evox.ini set static ip = yes and give it an ip of 192.168.1.3
all subnet mask for these should be 255.255.255.0 and you don't need to put in a gateway on the xbox or the nic going to the xbox.

It works in theory and practice.  post the network section of your evox.ini and post the results of running ipconfig /all on your computer.  Chances are we'll see something wrong in one of those.

I just re-read what you posted... you said you can ftp to your xbox, that's what i thought was broke.  But now you want your xbox to access the internet through your pc? If that is correct you now need to set up Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) on your PC.

I'm sure you don't have ICS setup right then.  If you use ICS then in the evox.ini set static ip = no
then try.

I'm a little confused.  If you have a router why do you need 2 nics?  You run your pc nic to the router, and you run the xbox nic to the router.

Further, you pretty much answered your own question about how to set up the addressing for the 2nd nic (in your router-less scenario)... you listed the IP and mask for evox, just choose a different address (192.168.0.2, for example) for your nic.

due to the location i can NOT connect my xbox to the router, its either just my computer or just my xbox i can not do both.
What do you mean by 192.168.0.2, in the TCP/IP on my 2nd NIC card, do i put 192.168.0.2 for the IP, or do i leave it as "optain IP auto"

That really doesn't explain much.  If your PC connects through to router through nic1, and nic2 connects to the xbox, why can't nic1 connect to the xbox via the router?  Do you coax running to another room that nic1 uses to connect to the router or something?

I guess it really doesn't matter.  If you're connecting nic2 to the xbox without a router, run a crossover cable between them and put an address like 192.168.0.2/255.255.255.0 on nic2.  If you're using a router (I still can't tell what your layout is), just leave nic2 to "obtain IP automatically".

You set 192.168.0.2 as the ip, dont have it obtain an IP automatically.

Make sure your 2 nics are on seperate subnets.  So if nic1 is 192.168.1.something, then nic 2 can/should be 192.168.0.something.  And vice versa.

QUOTE (delacruz @ Dec 28 2003, 11:52 PM)
so in the evox.ini i set "static IP"=on and place a ip like 192.168.1.100  beacuse my computer IP is 192.168.0.100.

Please read what I said 1 more time, I didnt say anything about the xbox.
Since you asked....
If your PC's nic is 192.168.0.xxx then all the devices that connect to that nic have to be 192.168.0.xxx

You could make this a LOT easier if you gave some more info on your network (Like what subnet your nic1 and router are on)

QUOTE
what do i do for the DNS

Look at your routers settings, the DNS addresses are there.  DNS is only needed for resolving web hostnames, so it isnt NEEDED unless the xbox is going to get online.

You cant have the same IP on your xbox and PC's nic....
And as you can see, your NIC #2 does not have an IP address, you may need to disable/enable the card or reboot (unless of course the xbox is on with that same IP you are trying to assign to your nic, in which case you need to change one or the other)

Yes, use a static IP, just not the SAME EXACT IP that your NIC has.

Your alternate DNS server on NIC2 is public (I can ping it) which makes me assume NIC2 is going through a router.  Why can't you connect your xbox to the same router?

Why would you assume that? Here is a picture for you (ms paint rules)

Thats just my guess, but who cares WHY, thats how he wants to do it....
