No, it's not going to make that much of a difference.  You may see an overall temp increase of 2 or 3 degrees, but your Xbox's top metal shield should do a decent enough job dissipating the heat. But like others have said, if you're worried, perform one of the fan mods.

Im Using The Same Hard Drive Without The Metal Shield Runing Cathode Light For The Jewel And My Xbox Stays Around  44° CPU And 36° Motherboard.

The Only Thing That I Did Is The 12 V Mod Fan Its Simple And It Works, The Only Problem Is The Noise, So The Trick Is To Play Or Watch Movies With Your 5.1 Connected ;-)
