Im Using The Same Hard Drive Without The Metal Shield Runing Cathode Light For The Jewel And My Xbox Stays Around  44° CPU And 36° Motherboard.

The Only Thing That I Did Is The 12 V Mod Fan Its Simple And It Works, The Only Problem Is The Noise, So The Trick Is To Play Or Watch Movies With Your 5.1 Connected ;-)

No way I would trade quietness for a couple of degrees of temperature decrease =)
