Is X2 4979 Worth The Upgrade
« on: November 26, 2003, 03:18:00 PM »

Im a little ignorant when it comes to flashing the bios, i have an Xecuter 2.2 lite
  • and the x2 4978 bios. when i first flashed the bios it was a 512 kb bin file and i used a dummy file. I was able to find the 4979.06/ 4979.67 repack bios, but they are 256 kb bin files. I have a few questions

    1. can i use the 256 kb bios or do i need to look for 512 kb bios?

    2. can i flash the bios in the second bank. (so that i can use both bios alternatly if i want to? (or possibly use m7 bios in one bank and 4979 in the other?)

I currently have a 120 gig hdd but in the future i may upgrade to a bigger drive.
    3. Should i use the .06 bios for a very large F drive, or is the use of the G drive neccessary.

    4. should i even bother w/ upgrading the bios?

    thank you for the help
I know that these are pretty dumb questions, but i havent been able to find specific answers to these questions.
sorry for posting this in the wrong forum...

0. Read more
1. you have a 1024k rom on your chip, evox flashes the ENTIRE chip.  Evox also resizes the bios when you goto flash it
2. you can use flashx to flash per bank, or use the x2 bios manager to make your .bin with multiple bios'
3. what ever you want, G is not required (if it was, then it would be the only bios....)
4. read the changelog and decide, no one can do it for you
