Junk topics 'might' be lessened if newbs were given the option to use a post template with fields for info they might not realize is relevant..
eg
xbox version (or date)
current mod type
dashboard
error# (if applicable)
LED color cycle (if applicable)
dvd type perhaps
xbl user (yes/no)
ftp access (yes/no)
description of problem in their own words

and perhaps a template suitable for general networking issues
router/crossover cable
dashboard
pc ip's
xbox ip
static/dhcp
can ping?

Just a suggestion.. I know it probably isn't feasible since I've never seen anything siilar on IPB..
