the MS bios requires a DVD drive and a hard drive...

If you tried with an x2 bios, you would prolly get error 9 or 12.

if you have XBtool, you should be able to use it to make a bios that doesn't check for the dvd drive, if not, find a bios that has already been made to not check for the dvd drive. then you can take the bios (still with XBtool) and make the bios point to a dashboard or something to one or both drives so that it has the two mediums to boot from. or maybe im just talking, i don't know

Not yet, though this is a feature desired by many so perhaps it's being worked on right now.

Sp8rky - not all of us use our xbox to play games.  I only have 1 game - NCAA2K4.  I'm modding my box for a DEC - mp3's and Divx files can easily be transferred across FTP.  No DVD drive needed.

the new x2 4979 bios skips the dvd-rom check, so you can have 2 HDs and no dvd (i dont know what the partioning would be though)

sp8rky - he might have a second xbox with a dvdrom, make the backup there, then FTP to the 2HD box ( plan to do somthing like this) or its possible hes using it as a linux PC or home media center and doesnt even play xbox games on it, lol

ok....
or you can do the 2 hdds and dvd drive mod
and have all three on a switch
you add a third terminal to the ide between the dvd and the hdd, then have a 3 setting toggle switch with  3 settings, dvd + hdd1, dvd + hdd2 and hdd1 + hdd2

seems easy enough

ok, that "no dvd check" has been in the x2 bios for a while, as well as being an option in xbtool.  No, you cannot put a 2nd hd in its place.

and do you have a link, thread, anything to show how they had "two HDD's connected and working in one xbox at the same time"?
