Just wondering, can you get banned with an upgraded hard drive?  <

Technically yes - but that's only if you get sloppy and leave your modchip on while logging on.

If your upgraded hard drive is "locked" to your motherboard, you should have no problems going on Xbox Live with the modchip off. To quote shanafan's post about it:

Xbox Live is not banning large HD users who use Live with the modchip off.

I recently ordered a Xenium chip, and I'm looking forward to hooking it up. I've been reading up on the procedures for staying unbanned, and I'm pretty confident I can evade M$.

But one question, what exactly is this "Anti-Live OS" that was mentioned? I'm curious to hear about it...

That, and is locking your drive pretty easy? I'm not askin how to (I'll read the tut for that), I was just curious how difficult it was.

Thanks.  <

I have an Evox chip and I can't disable it, via the dip switches or even by (gently ... LOL) pulling out the ribbon from the back of the machine.

How can I disable the chip so I can get onto Xbox Live?     <

Well,
I got banned this morning (Damn You MSFT)
I propose some new ideas...
!)If you have a router PULL OUT THE WAN
This will not allow you to go online but still access your xbox and pc ftp...
2) Disable the mo chip (Obvisioly)
3) Is it possible to make a EEPROM keygen
Where it would auto generate a key
You could then test it and see if it works if not do another regeneration
4)If all goes bad go to Ebay and buy a NEW/ND/Used one for cheap...
-------------------
Is #3 possible like there are Windows/Office/Server 03 and other program key generators
Though it would take alot of collection it should be possible...

If the chip was off and the hard drive was not plugged in the Xbox wouldn't work at all, you wouldn't get banned because you wouldn't be able to log in.

All the newer chips especially xecutor have an on off switch, hook it up and always remember to turn it off before you go live!

cromat44 - Or, if it's not a physical switch like an Xecuter 2.3b, an OS based solution like the Xenium, where you can boot to MSDash, or pressing the eject button with a SmartXX.

Smasher9a - Yes, you'll get banned if you do it that way. You have to boot up to the OS menu to select the original BIOS - you can't go on Xbox Live if you go to MSDash through EvoX first.

jcautela - like I just said, it may not be in the form of a switch. But ALL never chips have an EASY solution to prevent Xbox Live bannings. And with the Anti-Live BIOSes, not getting banned is easier than ever smile.gif

And to those suggesting keygens for eeproms, it's not a good idea in the first place, and something that would quickly become bannable here at Xbox-Scene.
