Xbox Bios 1.4 X2-4981 Tsop No Dvd Drive Slow Boot
« on: October 18, 2009, 04:46:00 PM »

Hey Guys,

Here is what I have:
- Xbox1 v1.4
- TSOP Bios flashed with x2 4981 using raincoat 0.7
- Hard drive upgraded to larger 2.5' laptop hard drive using slayers disk 2.7

Here is the issue I am having:

My plan is to build it into a slimbox and use it as a media center and that is why I flashed it with x2 4981 bios bc it has the option to skip the dvd drive check on boot-up, which it does, but it takes it a really long time to boot up. It sits on the "X" logo screen for a long time, then the xecuter2 word comes up, then the screen goes blank for about 30sec, then the dash finally loads.

I was wondering if there is anything I can do to make it boot faster with the dvd drive out or a different 256k bios I should be using that works better

Thanks for you help!

Try using X2 5035, I don't know whats different, But I'm using it on console without a DVD Drive and don't have the delay you are experiencing. Also, i don't know if X2 5035 is available in 256K.

Do you know what version xbox you have? I have 1.4, does the x2-5035 work on the v1.4? Does v1.4 need to use a 256k bios or not?

Thanks!

X2.5035 is 512k, so it won't fit on a 1.4 TSOP, which needs a 256k BIOS. Try iND-BIOS.5003 instead - it's just as configurable, but it's only 256k.

Depends. So long as you DON'T have a Winbond TSOP chip you can just use Evox (either as an application or as your dash) to flash the BIOS. If you have a Winbond then you need to run a Raincoat based flasher, as you described.

You can open the Xbox, or try flashing with Evox and see if it identifies the chip as a Winond then gives you an error.

According to your first post your Xbox isn't softmodded, it's TSOP flashed......

Yes, HeXEn works on softmod, TSOP (including Winbond) and chipped Xboxes.

The ND-BIOS.5003 doesn't seem to want to boot with the dvd drive out. Is there a setting in there that I am missing? I got it set up so that it would boot the dash I would want to boot and have the config file in the c drive and injected it, but without the dvd drive it says "loading ind bios" then goes blank and does nothing.

Ok so it finally loaded. I guess it took about the same amount of time as with the x2 bios, but the blank screen was longer. I guess the long boot will be something I will have to deal with unless anyone else has any other ideas on what might be causing it.

I do have a winbond chip.

Thanks for all your help!
