Need Help With Tsop Recovery
« on: September 16, 2009, 12:08:00 AM »

Okay this is my first attempt at doing a TSOP recovery but I have a couple more that I need to do so I'd really love to get this first Xbox working. Alright! This Xbox is a 1.0 with of course a  1mb Hynix chip. So I got the 29-wire chip installed(pretty tough but it worked). I then used the Auto Installer Deluxe disc to attempt to flash the TSOP. So I load up the BIOS Flasher(Evox) and cut the wires. Selected my fav BIOS(X2 5035) from the 1mb bios menu. It recognizes my Hynix chip yay! Erases it. Yay again! Flashing....gets to about 1/4 and stops. FUUUUUUUCK, I missed one of the wires I needed to cut. No problem, I just redid those 8 wires and retried. But, to my dismay, after getting everything working again it still doesnt work. It stops at 1/4 the way AGAIN. At this point I will now have to redo the wiring AGAIN. I'm running out of options AND wire. I need some help. Should I just try raincoat or what?

I wonder if anyone ever figured out if you have to cut the 8 wires or 4 from the Xray3...

Okay. I successfully flashed the TSOP with Raincoat.  Rebooted the Xbox and it still frags. What could possibly be wrong with this Xbox? I'm pretty sure it worked before the bad flash.

So nobody knows?? What could I have possible done wrong? I flashed the TSOP, it should work. The xbox works with a modchip in so I know it can't be any other hardware failure. Should I just reinstall the 29 wire and flash the tsop over and over again?

Which version of raincoat did you use? If it was not the newest version (0.7 I believe), it will only flash half of the tsop. To confirm this has happened, try the 3 wire trick. If it boots that way, you can reflash the TSOP with a 1mb image of (512k 2x) the X2 5035  bios and then remove the wires.

I would suggest flashing a 256k bios like x2 4981, then if it still frags try the 3 wire trick again.  If you can get it to boot on its own like that then you can reflash it from that point with whatever bios you want.

I'll try the 3 wire trick one last time. If it won't boot after this I'm just going to shoot it.

The 3 wire wont work if there is a 512 kb bios on there.... well not the 3 wire in the typical fashion, as it only boots from the upper 256kb

For a 512kb split, you only need to either ground  A19 or apply 3.3v to A19.... so its just a 2 wire trick.  I cant recall whether grounding gives you the upper or the lower 512 though so you may have to try it both ways.
