Do you still need to remove the motherboard? All the tutorials seem to mention SHARPs only need the motherboard removed.

From what I can tell, you only need to remove the motherboard if you have a version 1.0-1.1 xbox. There is some good info on it here  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

actually, you dont, if your good at soldering

connect a via on the yellow trace to the blue TSOP pin to join the bottom points (right side of the pic)
