For people who can't solder (includes me)

But you're out of luck if it's a Sharp TSOP.

thanks a lot guys
but i really wanna noe if the flash can be accomplished by just putting  a wire which touches the points .
i  already new about window defogger kit a conductive ink pen and all...... but my doubt still remains the same.
sorry about the extremely noobiness....
thnx in advance huh.gif

Somebody tried this: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=4323455

I gathered what he did was tracing the alternate write enable points and there are tiny vias on the motherboard along the paths and he linked them with strands of stripped IDE cables.

But like I said, this won't work for a Sharp tsop.

THANKS A LOT GUYS
i finally understand that the 2 points to be soldered together is only so that current can flow through the points.

so again(sorry if its boring) if i were to take a normal copper wire place one end if it such that it touches both the points(on the same end) and stick the wire there on the mobo with stickytape or blu-tac, do the same for the underside of the mobo,
would it be a tsop-flashable set up?
thanks

Yes you can but just placing wire across with not work well. What you need to do is insert the wire into the holes(test points) on the motherboard. I just use some 30gauge wire(i believe thats what it is).

look at the pictures in this post http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=266342 and you will be able to find the holes which are pretty close to the points that most people use. I have done this several times and it worked no problem.

the defog kit also works well just clean the board with some nail polish remover(etc) to remove the varish and it work alot better.

Here is what I did on the 3 xbox that I have that are 1.4-1.5.

I took a dead power supply and stripped some wire from that. I believe it is 30 gauge. I stripped the ends of the wire and separated out a single hair thin wire. I tapped back the other wires with electrical tape and placed the hair thin wire into the holes in this topic.

It worked great. The winbound TSOP flashed without issue. I used Raincoat to do it included with the Eurasia flash disk 1.5.

I would give it a go. I had no trouble at all. I tried to solder one of mine at first and messed it up some making the point unusable. So I was stuck on that one and tried this and it worked.

This is good news for those of us who can't solder and want to flash their tsop but don't have a Sharp tsop.

At least 3 success stories with wires of the right size connecting the vias along the alternate write enable points.

There is always one of these. Also I do remember jumpers being connected on some old AMD CPUs for overclocking with just a regular pencil!!!! But then again I have heard of people flashing Tsops without opening the case and just poking some wire through the sides and lining them up over the jumper points, so many solutions depending on how much risk/effort you want to put forth. Found it.

the  AMD thing gives me another idea........
the 2 close jumpers which need to be soldered together may be connected by rubbing the tip if the normal graphite pencil on them.........(i hope)
if which is true, saves me more money biggrin.gif
any thoughts?

with all the added info it seems that the wire trick is along the same lines of the pencil trick which means its a way of doing it but but not a good safe way for everyone because with the wire trick then if the wire slips and loses connection then you may mess up the flash and your xbox With the pencil trick it was advised that the connection may burn out during the flash so it was not recommend to use that method So I guess i'll just stick with the defogger stuff

SO did it work as well as mine did? Let me know I cant be the only one to have ever tried this. Can I?

00diabolic,
i have a question,
did u use the wires to connect "Jumper from MCPX RD# to Flash OE# and MCPX WR# to Flash WE#"
or did u use the alternate TSOP Points?
thanks

Any kind of conductive material would work. I mean a drop of water would work. Just some ways are not advised because of the risk involved
