Need Some Help
« on: July 24, 2008, 12:50:00 AM »

This Xbox has been sitting around for quite some time. I believe it is the one that I softmodded and then went in and hit the Bios Flash in Slayers Evox. The Bios Flash got to like 80% and froze. . .

When I boot the Box, it Flubbers and then goes to the Multi-Language your xbox is F'ed screen. The LEDs are flashing Green and Red.

Box will not boot games. I'm fairly certain the Bios is destroyed.

My question is: Is a Mod Chip my only available option now? Is it even an option? I am really no good with soldering and would love any alternative to a chip. I have 2 kids so spending the extra cash on a solderless chip at the moment is not exactly an option.

Pretty stuck at the moment. Should I let it sit and collect dust until I can just spring for the solderless?

Thank you in advance.

the bios is fine, you wouldnt even get flubber if it wasnt

you might have overwritten something related to the softmod, like a BM bios or something, try a hotswap to rebuild the HD, pull the HD off the IDE right before the error screen pops up (ive heard unplugging the DVD drive before booting helps)

I am extremely bad with the HotSwap thing... I will keep trying it out but wanted to see if it would be possible for me to Rebuild the HD with the Backup from the HD? I have it on my PC and was wondering if I could just Unlock with with XboxHDM and rebuild the HD ?

I have a softmodded HD backup, full HD on here too. Would I be able to copy that over and then place the Bios, Eeprom and hddkey files somewhere to restore a working HD?

Sorry, I really should have included that.

The older one I thought had the screwed up BIOS was softmodded with MechAssault Softmod.
The newer one that is my media box was done with the Splinter Cell exploit. Both done with the Softmod Installer Deluxe through the games exploit.

I have a pretty good idea what to do with it. Thanks. Kind of just needed some confirmation on what I thought might be possible. Thanks. I will post up what I do.

Ok, I just used XboxHDM 1.9 to completely rebuild the HD from a backup I had on my PC. Luckily I still had the Eeprom and Key still on my PC HD.

When I booted it up it still Flubbers, no Microsoft on the bottom of screen and then right back to the Flashing Red/Green and Service Screen. No number in the upper left hand corner.

Not quite sure what else I can do here....

Really could use some advice.

1. Xbox 1.0 hence service screen no error no.
2. Check eeprom.bin serial no with LiveInfo beta 3 against back sticker serial no.

I had given up on this thing with no responses. Thank you so much for helping. I will do that and see if that might be the issue.

First glance comes up with 2 problems.

1. Serial does not match up with the serial listed under the mfg date.
2. The HDD Status shows up with "Locking: Not Locked, Frozen".

The serial number not matching could be due to the unit being a refurb from Gamestop or Ebgames. Its been a very long time since I got it. I am almost positive that the EEPROM i have on the pc and am trying to rebuild the HDD with is the one I got from this box.

I am going to load it all back up and try to lock it again.

Any other suggestions from this new info?

So it appears the 2 Eeproms I have sitting on my PC HD arent for the box I am trying to fix after all.

Looks like I am pretty boned atm.

Is there a program I can run from within the XboxHDM CD? Like through Xbrowser to get the HD Key and correct Eeprom?

Looks like I might be building an Eeprom reader after all.
