If you are using something with the raincoat flasher (you have to type raincoat -p bios.bin, or something like that), then it will automatically resize the bios to 1 MB. Else, you can always try to flash it 4 times with the -a flag (look at the documentation). Of course, it might nice to have more than 1 bios on the TSOP for recovery purposes, so you can either try to FTP the files (if the xbox is modded already), put the file on a CD and mount it (if your DVD-ROM can read it and you can use the Linux mount command) or try the hotswap trick on the hard drive to use it on your PC (see http://forums.afterd...view.cfm/332766 for how to do a hotswap). Personally, I would just use the Linux commands to mount the drive. I believe that the command is "mount /media/E" (w/o the quotes). I modded my xbox with the Splinter Cell exploit, but it should be similar for  anyother memory card exploit that uses Linux and raincoat.

WRONG! raincoat .7 will resize to 1mb. evox will resize up as well, none will resize down to 256k. use evox if you don't have a winbond or a sharp.

raincoat .5 won't resize at all.

but, as the previous poster said, you can just ftp the new bios to the gamesave folder after you run the softmod, if you are worried.

Yes, any newer version raincoat will resize it as needed.

Nobody said that raincoat would resize down to a smaller file; I was under the assumption that the thread creator wanted to flash a 256K bios to a 1M TSOP. Using raincoat would work for that. To resize the bios (under Linux, like the save game exploits) you can use:
dd if="big_bios.bin" of="256K_bios.bin" count=512 . This will copy the first 256KB of the big_bios.bins and move then into 256K_bios.bin. Obviously don't use this on any bioses that need to be 512K or 1M. For this thread, you don't need to know that.
