Softmodding A Xbox That Has Already Been Modded With A Chip
« on: December 15, 2006, 12:03:00 PM »

Hi.  I have had my xbox since 2002 and the first mod chip I got for it was the matrix chip.  Next when the chameleon came out I used the piggyback method to install it. I cut the 3 traces on the matrix chip and have had the chameleon chip working ever since.  Just recently however, the chip seems to be bugging out. Sometimes the box will power up 3 times and then flash red/green. Other times it will work just fine. I know all the issues with the crappy matrix chip and I know that cleaning the points and realigning the thing solves the problem. However, it is time to ditch the pos.

I have already upgraded the hd to 40 GB and it has all my homebrew stuff and emulators on it. I have done numerous softmods in the past and have never had a problem. This time I want to copy the files for the softmod onto the 40gb hd and take the chip out so I won't have any more problems.  Would this work or would I be better off completely reformatting the hd and starting from scratch?  I want to make sure that this will work, since I will essentially be using the chip to install the softmod instead of 007/splinter cell hack. Also im not using the stock hd, so i want to make sure that my 40gb hd (already installed) will work right off the bat when I copy the softmod files. Advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

P.S.  When this is done my chameleon chip will be for sale here on the forums along with the cut matrix.
