I fixed a busted xbox and soft modded it then when i checked my soddering points i noticed one had come off. when i put it back on and turned on my xbox it started smoking. I've been able to master hot swaps and changing the bios but some how this one didn't work well. please help.

I did a little more research and i found out that my TSOP chip is one of the most picky chips. (W49F020T-90B) I have to other xboxes that are in need of the 29wire chip. I let my boyfriend try his had at moding and he didn't do a full bio FTP so when he flashed new bios he basically gave me new paper weights. i just never seen one smoke before when i tried to fix it. I can't show you a pix because i  don't have a camera. I know i soddered it right i just can't figure out why it started smoking. the underside of the chip isn't burned either. so is it salvageable or not?

if you want to send the xbox(s) my way, i can restore the tsop and/or mod them with a chip (or just flash a hacked bios to the tsop...) i have a 29 wire. they aren't fun, but i can do it.

congratulations on being promoted to moderator. do you have a clue as to what the problem could be without seeing it? if so... enlighten me. and the OP for that matter. she doesnt even know where the smoke even came from.

and as far as me pushing services... it can't hurt to offer. if you don't like it. block me. problem solved.

EDIT: and if you look at most of my posts... i only offer for jobs that most people can't solve. if i can do it over the internet, i do it. in this case, the advise was to send it to me to have it looked at. if a known good repairer had posted, i would have mentioned them as well.

Damn Caster are you 12?  You wine like you can't keep your dick hard long enough to jerk off.  And no i have no idea where the smoke came from i do know under the TSOP is clean so i don't think that is what was smoking. I just ordered my 29 wire so hopefully i can fix it that way? any other ideas though... oh and caster most of your ideas suck....my friend listened to you and my fried blew up his xbox...my version is 1.2. I updated my dashboard for ms, uleashx, and avalaunch. and i've moded everything from a on off switch on my controller to two extra fans, controller port lights, neon logos, veiwable DVD tray, etc. so sodering isn't hard for me. I know i sodered it right i just think that my TSOP chip is one of those that's retarted and needs something else done to it.
