Ok 5 minutes till I have to take it out of the freezer. I'm going to remove the softmod and the saves, then put on NMS TSOP Flasher saves. Freeze it again for 45 minutes this time and then attempt the flash!

It's saying the tsops read only, but i've soldered the points twice (because first time I got "can't flash" error) and they look good. I might have to hit it again with one more bead of solder, but to me everything looks connected.

Third time should be the charm *crossing fingers*. I redid the solders and NOW they ARE connected. I'm more than sure of this! I'll post my results when the xbox comes out the freezer at 8:10

Ok it didn't work again.... I don't know why, my points are dead on. I have a 1.2/3 and I bridged the two points on the top. I'm going to retry installing the save and see if that works

You probably have a Winbond TSOP, and these chips can only be flashed using Raincoat. NMS TSOP Flasher and Evox cannot flash these chips.

I was almost certain that NMS used Eurasia, which uses Raincoat .7 I believe.  I know I flashed a Winbond with his first TSOP package, haven't used the latest one though.

I've just fixed my friends v1.4 (focus vid/winbond tsop chip) coma xbox using this method!. Although I don't think the xbox really needs to go in the freezer!!  tongue.gif . I found that just unplugging the power cord for 5-10min and then switching on again worked fine. I used the splintercell hack with raincoat to flash the tsop with an x2 bios after I'd done the solder gaps. Works fine now!. Only problem is my friend wants to use live so I'm going to have to revert back to original bios which I'm having some issues with??. Not going to thread jack so I've got a my own thread about it HERE.

Thanks for being curteous. Anyway, it's been a few days since I touched the damn thing. I think my only option is to FULLY desolder those points and resolder them. I desoldered them before but not down to the bare pad. I'll do it later on today and post my results.

Well I had a load of trouble getting my points soldered!. The first one near the ground screw was pretty easy but the one further down was a real pain in the ass. It took a few attempts or desoldering and resoldering before I was able to write to the tsop. Twice as frustrating because everytime you try it and it doesn't work you have to wait a good 10min before the xbox will reboot to try again!. I ended up lifting the pads and damaging the traces!. Had to flip the mobo and solder the points on the other side but that was actually much easier and worked first time!!!. Theres less components to get in your way and its easier to repair if you mess up. Try stipping a wire back about 5mm and tinning it up with solder. Then carefully lay it across the section you need to bridge. Hold the solder iron against the center and all the solder should just melt onto the pads (or vias in my case). Just snip the excess wire off and you should be good to go. Good luck anyways.

Once I get the items that I traded with Perplexer i'll begin workin on this again. Only thing really holding me back is desoldering braid, so that's on the way and i'll be able to redo those points smile.gif
