how do i know if i have the right type of switch. it has the three wire places on the under side. two are silver one a goldish bronze. the switch can go to the left or right (two positions). i got it from a rc toy controller that controlled if the frequency was either A or B. i think its right but i cant afford to screw up.

sounds like it shoudl be right

to be certain check it with a multimeter, the center pole shoul dbe connected to one of the outer poles, and the other when the switch is flipped, it should never go tto both at the same time, and it should always be on one or the other

and keep the other half the x2 bios of course.

install the switch, then fash either retail 4034 (if it has a fan on teh gpu) or 4817 (if no fan)

you cna get it at xbins under /xbox/bios/original

you can only install a switch on a 1.0 or 1.1, for a 1.2-1.5 you need a modchip if you want to be able to switch bioses

Version 1.0 and 1.1 have 1mb tsops. V1.2-1.5 have 256kb tsops, which are only large enough to hold one bios.

Check www.xbox-scene.com/tutorials for a tut that tells you what version you have. Is there a sticker that tells you what kernel came with it originally?

Making a bios smaller isnt as simple as one would think. Think of what it needs to contain to support everything on your xbox. The new x2 bios is bigger to support more options. So no, it likely inst possible without loosing fucntionallity of your xbox and it wouldnt work on your tsop because to the best of my knowledge, you wouldnt be able to create a 128kb bank.
