a 1.6 doesn't have a TSOP, everything's bundled into the Xyclops chip, which you can't flash (since nobody actually knows how)

I didn't know that, thanks for the info.

What changes could of been made to make it act like it does with no audio or video, but still have a steady green led?

damaged traces on the Mobo, but from your story, not likely.

depending on what the front LED is doing, he might have boogled the EEPROM up, which sounds more likely to me.

sounds like the EEPROM in that case.
presumably the modchip has an embedded EEPROM, which would explain the different symptoms you get when it's turned off.
check the solder job on the board, that may reveal some clues

was the hard disk ever changed if so then the disk might have
a. been flashed with the wrong eeprom
b.been flashed with a bad eeprom
c.not been flashed at all
d.not been locked to the new xbox

goes to show ya if ya dont know what youre doing either reasearch or dont do it

olipro i dont think duox2's have embedded eeproms as my 1.6 is running fine with a duox2 and ididnt have to flash the chip

Ok, heres the latest info i found out, the xbox is all original, it has never had any problems up until the settings were changed using the dashboard, the guy said he was boarded and playing with the options, he said he disabled most of them including ftp, and changed the video typr to pal.

Its suppost to have the avalanch dashboard, after he made the changed he saved settings and powered off the xbox, when he powered it back up with the modchip this was the result, steady green led on front with no video or audio.

oops, sorry about the spelling, I need a new keyboard, lol

yup, he's pooched the EEPROM I'd say then, flash the chip with a bios that can bypass the EEPROM being corrupted (if possible) and you should be able to sort it.

take a look on the main site for BIOS features; I might actually be talking out of my arse here; I'm not a modchip user and something such as an embedded EEPROM may be hardware dependant rather than just require flashing a new BIOS.

He should flash one bank of the Duo2 with flashbios unuthorized and then he can restore the eeprom of the dead machine. (though eeprom problems usually do not blink 7 times uhh.gif ) After this the Duo2 can be reflashed with the required normal bios.

 regards, Stephen

when using flasbios unauthorized there is no need to use an embedded eeprom. Though using Xbtool you can modify M7 and X2 4981 bioses to embed the eeprom content.

Yes, yes, finally getting something positive, thanks u_n_s97 and everyone for getting me this far.

I flashed one of the banks on the duox2 in another xbox with flashbios unauthorised, poped it in the messed up xbox and it now has video, it is rolling on the screen, I'm guessing one of the changes made in the eeprom was to pal tv.

Ok, now from this screen thats hard to see anything, buts its still sweet to see anything at all, how do I reflash or reset the eeprom back to the way its suppose to be?

I making a presumption that you can boot discs, if so then burn enigma video switcher, boot it up and wait a minute to make sure it's loaded, then hit 'B' on your controller and then IGR or turn off xbox. When you start up it should be good.

With a dead eeprom he won't be able to boot up anything unfortunatelly.

74stingray: try another tv, there is a menu with network flash, unlock hdd and flashing eeproms. You have to scroll down with your controller as the unlock eeprom menu is not shown. (FB unautthorized 3.01 version) Then choose the PROPER Xbox version, and press the A button and the eeprom will be restored. Unfortunatelly if your HDD was locked and you do not have the key, it will be unusable, except it is the old Seagate as that can be unlocked with a special cable + some commands.
