Somthing else I've noticed and forgot to tell you. This will determind if we are in fact having the same problem. (Its not a NTSC/PAL issue).

Turn off all the lights in the room the xbox is in (complete darkness). Turn the TV on, and notice how clear the black screen is. Now turn on your xbox and you'll notice the screen getting a little hint of a wave. If you look real carefully, you'll kinda faintly see the xbox logo as your xbox boots.

Tell me if you get the same resluts.

If I get the Xbox to stop fragging, I'll check to see what the screen looks like when it turns on.

UPDATE:  I replaced the Thompson DVD Drive with a Phillips DVD Drive and the Xbox no longer frags.  I placed a Eurasia Flash Disc in the dvd drive and it actually turned the LED orange (the way it should).  But then it ejected the disc and thus, unsuccessfully flashed the TSOP.

So I guess I fixed the fragging...but I have no idea why the TSOP was not flashed with the Eurasia Flash Disc.  Maybe I need to edit the config file or something.

Yes, I used a 1 megabyte bios.  I am going to try it a second time in just a couple minutes.  This time, I have included a raincoat.cfg file with more tsop "configurations" in the file.

Same thing happened.  The disc was ejected and the TSOP was not flashed.

The disc I am trying to use has the following files:

bios.bin
default.xbe
initrd (archive)
linuxboot.cfg
raincoat.cfg
SaveMeta.xbx
vmlinuz.dat
xbsavegame.dat

My linuxboot.cfg looks like this:

kernel vmlinuz
initrd initrd.gz
append init=/linuxrc root=/dev/ram0 pci=biosirq kbd-reset

My raincoat.cfg looks like this:

flash = 0x01d5,"AMD - Am29F080B",0x100000;
flash = 0x04d5,"FUJITSU - MBM29F080A",0x100000;
flash = 0xadd5,"Hynix - HY29F080",0x100000;
flash = 0x20f1,"ST - M29F080A",0x100000;
flash = 0xbf61,"SST SST49LF020",0x40000;
flash = 0x89a6,"Sharp LHF08CH1",0x100000;
flash = 0xda8c,"Winbond W49F020",0x40000;
flash = 0x01a4,"AMD - Am29F040B",0x80000;
flash = 0xda0b,"Winbond - W49F002U",0x40000;
flash = 0xc236,"MACRONIX - MX29F022NTPC",0x40000;
flash = 0x20b0,"ST M29f002BT",0x40000;
flash = 0x01da,"AMD - Am29LV800B",0x100000;
flash = 0x04a4,"FUJITSU - MBM29F040C",0x80000;
flash = 0xadb0,"Hynix - HY29F002TT-90",0x40000;

Since the LED turns orange, I know this Xbox is capable of loading un-signed code.  (Even though I am still unable to load EvoX, even with the new DVD Drive.)

Perhaps I need a more updated raincoat.cfg.  If anyone can help me in that department, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

I haven't used raincoat itself in a long time.  That used to be the way I flashed TSOPs before the 007 EvoX exploit made it a lot easier.

I don't really know where to start.

EDIT:  I just downloaded the 007 raincoat exploit so I'll figure it out somehow.

get a 007savewithraicnaot from xbins, look for the raincaot .7 "andy and exobex" version

take all the fiels out fo the gamesave fodler and make an ISO, burn to cd and pop it in, LED should go orange and telnet same way you used to, youll have to make a few minor changes to your directory change

shoudl go

CD media/D/raincoat/

i think, thats just off the to of my head

Okay, I've gotten as far as Telnet and I'm connected to the Xbox.

"CD media/D/raincoat/" is not working though.

Someone on IRC is trying to help me out.  But if you can think of anything else I might type in instead, that might help.

Thanks again.

UPDATE:  IT'S FIXED

I am going to post a conversation I had with someone in the #Xbox-Linux chat room on irc.oftc.net named dmp .  Without his help, and the help from the rest of you, I would not have been able to get this problem solved.  Actually, I did not solve the problem.  It was done completely with the help of dmp and you guys.

SEE WHAT I MEAN?  Numerous people on IRC kept telling me I was screwed.  But like I said, there is always someone out there that knows how to fix something.  I did not need a 29 wire mod or an X-Ray chip (whatever that is).

wink.gif
<dmp> [23:40] <dmp> in a dos box:
<dmp> [23:40] <dmp> ping 192.168.0.3
<dmp> [23:40] <dmp> if that doesnt work, try 192.168.0.2, or 192.168.0.10
<dmp> [23:41] <patterson> Okay, 192.168.0.10 worked.
<dmp> [23:41] <dmp> now, google for 'putty' and go there, download putty, and it's brother, pscp
<dmp> [23:41] <patterson> k
<dmp> [23:42] <patterson> I now have both.
<dmp> [23:43] <dmp> cool
<dmp> [23:43] <dmp> run putty
<dmp> [23:43] <dmp> type in the ip address, and click connect
<dmp> [23:43] <patterson> login as:
<dmp> [23:43] <patterson> ?
<dmp> [23:43] <dmp> root
<dmp> [23:43] <dmp> password of xbox
<dmp> [23:44] <patterson> Access Denies
<dmp> [23:44] <patterson> denied
<dmp> [23:44] <dmp> try password of xebian
<dmp> [23:44] <dmp> be aware these are case sensitive
<dmp> [23:44] <dmp> btw.
<dmp> [23:44] <patterson> now it says "xebian:~#"
<dmp> [23:44] <dmp> good.
<dmp> [23:45] <dmp> type raincoat -r orig.bin
<dmp> [23:45] <dmp> and see if it reads the existing bios ok
<dmp> [23:45] <patterson> DETECTED:  Hynix - HY29F080 (1024K)
<dmp> [23:46] <patterson> now it says "xebian:~#"
<dmp> [23:47] <dmp> good.
<dmp> [23:47] <dmp> ok, now, make a directory on your PC's hdd
<dmp> [23:47] <dmp> C:\xboxcrap
<dmp> [23:47] <dmp> for example
<dmp> [23:47] <patterson> k
<dmp> [23:47] <dmp> put the bios image in it, as well as the pscp program
<dmp> [23:47] <patterson> k
<dmp> [23:47] <patterson> did that
<dmp> [23:48] <dmp> open a dos box on your pc
<dmp> [23:48] <dmp> cd into that directory
<dmp> [23:48] <patterson> k, did that
<dmp> [23:48] <dmp> type:
<dmp> [23:49] <dmp> pscp whateverthebiosfilenameis  [email protected]:/tmp
<dmp> [23:49] <dmp> it will ask you for the password
<dmp> [23:49] <dmp> feed it xebian when it asks
<dmp> [23:50] <patterson> okay, it did a few things then said 100% and brought me back to C:\xboxcrap
<dmp> [23:50] <patterson> it appears to have been uploaded i suppose
<dmp> [23:50] <dmp> good
<dmp> [23:50] <dmp> now, in your putty window, type:
<dmp> [23:50] <dmp> ls -lrt /tmp
<dmp> [23:50] <dmp> does the last line show the filename of the bios image you uploaded
<dmp> [23:51] <dmp> oh, and make sure the bios file is 1MB big
<dmp> [23:51] <patterson> yes, bios. bin smile.gif
<dmp> [23:51] <dmp> if it's only 256k, tell me now!
<dmp> [23:51] <patterson> No, it is 1 meg.
<dmp> [23:51] <patterson> smile.gif
<dmp> [23:51] <dmp> now, deep breath then.
<dmp> [23:51] <patterson> k
<dmp> [23:51] <dmp> raincoat -p /tmp/whateveritsnameis
<dmp> [23:52] <patterson> it's erasing!!!! smile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gif
<dmp> [23:52] <patterson> its programming smile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gif
<dmp> [23:52] <patterson> Completed
<dmp> [23:52] <patterson> SO I should restart the xbox now huh?
<dmp> [23:52] <dmp> one more thing.
<dmp> [23:52] <patterson> k
<dmp> [23:53] <dmp> raincoat -r newbios.bin
<dmp> [23:53] <dmp> when that completes, run:
<dmp> [23:53] <dmp> diff newbios.bin /tmp/whateverthenameoftheoneyouuploadedis
<dmp> [23:53] <dmp> if it says they're both the same, go ahead, reboot.
<dmp> [23:54] <patterson> Well it didn't say anything after I typed "diff newbios.bin /tmp/bios.bin"....But after I typed "raincoat -r newbios.bin", it listed the same thing it did earlier
<dmp> [23:55] <dmp> reboot then
<dmp> [23:55] <patterson> Does that sound right?  Should I go ahead and reboot regardless?
<dmp> [23:55] <dmp> it's right
<dmp> [23:55] <patterson> k
<dmp> [23:56] <patterson> IT WORKS!!!!!!!! YOU ARE A GENIUS!!!!!!  Everyone told me this was not fixable but I knew there was someone out there that would know what to do.

I tried what you did, and everything went smoothly. Although my xbox is still black screen no audio. Oh well it was worth a shoot. Besides, I have two other working xbox's. So its not bothering me to much.
Great job on getting yours fix...
