Stupid Mistake - Flash V1.0 Xbox W/ V1.6 Bios
« on: August 30, 2005, 06:46:00 AM »

Basically I made x2_5035_v16plus_512k.bin a 1 megabyte bios and flashed a V1.0 Xbox before realizing that I should have used x2_5035_vOld_512k.bin instead.  Now I have lost audio/video output but the Xbox does turn on and appears to even load games (the dvd drive sounds like it is trying to load a game when there is a game in the drive).

After flashing with the wrong bios, I was hoping that I would be able to at least load an EvoX CDRW on this Xbox and be able to flash it again via the network, but I had no such luck.  I wasn't able to connect to the Xbox via FTP, so this leads me to believe that the Xbox is still unable to load un-signed code despite being flashed with a modded bios (even if it's the wrong version.)  And like I said, I really have to way of knowing whether or not any discs can be loaded with this Xbox because I have no audio/video output and the only thing I can rely on is the sound the dvd drive makes.

Now I have no idea what to do next.  I have an original X-BIT modchip, but someone told me that the only good this would do me is if I left this modchip in the Xbox permanently.  I suggested only booting the Xbox with this modchip and then removing it before flashing the TSOP again (with an EvoX CDRW) but this guy claimed that was not possible with an "LPC" mod.  Can anyone verify that?  Theoretically, I think this technique should work.  I guess I will try it on my own though.

I have also read varioud tidbits on connecting one Xbox motherboard to another but I have yet to find a solid tutorial on how to do this...and I'm not sure if it would fix my problem anyways.

So, at this point, I'm left with the following questions:

1.)  What is my best solution to fix this problem?

2.)  What exactly happens when you make a stupid mistake like this?

-------->A.)  Is the Xbox still loading up game discs in the background?
-------->B.)  Does it disable any network functionality?

Thanks for your time.  As you can see, I did make a long attempt at trying to find an solution on my own.  But as usual, it's best to ask people who probably know what they are talking about.

Thanks again.

P.S. - This is probably the 15th or so Xbox that I've modded but the first major problem I've ever come across.  I wouldn't consider myself a complete n00b.  I'm just a n00b to this kind of problem.

Whoever you spoke to was correct, you cannot reflash your TSOP if you boot from the LPC. Either make yourself a homebrew chip, or get hold of an xray3.

ncaissie:  That is a brilliant idea.  You must have a high IQ or something because it would have taken me a few weeks to think of that.

I'm going to attempt to do that.  Although I am still not sure if the Xbox will actually load any un-signed code at all.

you could also try a eurasia flashdisc, that has nothing on it but the flasher, since with evox you have to hit A, A, Y and hope it went through

eurasia is designed to go blind, it shuts off if successful and ejects the tray if it fails

I was unsuccessful with the EvoX disk.  At this point, I gotta believe that this Xbox is not reading unsigned code.

I can't find any "Eurasia Flash Disk" and I've been looking in the "usual" places.  Does it go by any other name?

Thanks again.

Still no luck.

ncaissie:  Do you know for certain whether or not this Xbox is capable of loading unsigned code?  It doesn't appear to be loading any of the EvoX cdrws I have tried up to this point.  I was just wondering if maybe you've had this same problem before.

Thanks again.

I hope you find a solution to your problem, cause I have the same issue with one of my xbox's. Did the same thing you did. Its been sitting collecting dust for about 2-3 months. I'm able to load unsigned code, and I can ftp to the hard drive using "smart ftp" and see  everything in each dir. I'm able to add/delete files off the hard drive. I gave up, hopeing somone else would find a way around are problem

Good luck, I'm counting on you! ! !

Hey bro.  Worth a try, make an evox boot disc, and set the .ini FTP settings to DHCP.  Give it a few then try ftp'ing range 192.168.1.1 thru 192.168.1.9.

If you get in, odds are you can boot a blind flash disc too.

Otherwise it looks like an Xray 3 chip or an lpc modchip with atleast 2 banks is your only option at this point.

he is better off having evox set to lauch eurasia... so it wont be stuck in a flashing loop, and he cant get evox to work, since he has no good discs to use.

Xbox Version:  V1.0

TSOP Brand:  Hyundai

Video Chip:  I'm not exactly sure what to look for, but I do see a few chips that say Samsung and a Conexant Video Encoder.

Do you know which Bios originally messed up your Xbox?
