Flashing Red/green
« on: May 15, 2005, 08:51:00 AM »

Hi, i just flashed the tsop of my 1.5 version xbox. I used the Slushie's tutorial. The only thing i did different is i used a different bios then the one that is suggested in the tutorial.

Now it frags 3 times and then i get a green/red flashing light. Is there any way i can recover this xbox? Plz help me.

ps. the tsop is a winbond. And i did backed the original bios up.

Thx for your help already.

What bios did you use? You might have flashed an incompatible bios onto it.

As it is, you're probably going to need a modchip to fix it.

Worked for 2 other tsop flashes but not this one.
It was a 1.5 (256k) windbond.
Im thinking its because i didnt use the newest raincoat....
any help would be awesome biggrin.gif

i was using sharpies guide...until now it has proven very useful
what x2 bios would you recommend?
and does the version of raincoat have anything to do with it (if the bios would have had focus support)?
+ the x3ce is from my other box (just wanted a cheap, quick solution) and its a 1.6
so i cant tsop flash that one....
im sure this has been answered a thousand times, but, where can i get a good 29 wire chip at and is there a good tut floating around that you recommend?
thanks again biggrin.gif

4983 is a good x2 bios, i use 4981 just because i can edit it with xbtool

the xray3 is the only 29 wire mod of know that you can still find, i believe their website www.xraychips.com has a tutorial for fixing a TSOP with the chip

raincaot .5 is fine, .7 has alot more chips in its conf (so it can flash more chips) and it will resize a bios to fill a 1mb chip on a 1.0/1.1

what are the basic advantages of using 4983 (or 4981) over the older version i used (other than the obvious video encoder support)?

I had a couple dead TSOP I was able to revive,(one I flashed myself with wrong size bios, the other I bought from a modder for $50.00 who said it was toast and need a 29wire mod which he didn't do, not sure why he did not just insall a mod chip and call it a day)  both were version 1.0, had bad flashes, I installed a pin header, booted with a cheapmod I made from the forms here, I flashed the same way I would normally do a TSOP flash with the 007 gamesave exploit.  I booted the xbox with the cheap mod in place, once the game was running, but before I loaded game save, I physically pulled the cheap mod off the pin header and removed the grounded D0 (which I was just holding against the metal part of case) I  then loaded the gamesave, and flashed via FTP.  Worked both times. Timing when pulling the mod chip off is a factor, pull it to soon and the system locks up, hope this helps, and if some one could confrim this works (or if I just got very lucky) and if it works for other versions/modchips. Please post your reuslts.

thats basicly the method for relfashing using the TSOP d6 bios, ecect you dont need to remove the chip, just take d0 off of ground

could this work for me...(not exactly sure how a cheapmod works because i live under a rock)
thank you so much for having the patience to help me out biggrin.gif
