Question On Flashing The Original Tsop Back
« on: January 15, 2005, 03:28:00 PM »

Ok, I've got a Xecuter 2.6. It loads fine with the chip on, but when I turn the chip off it frags. After reading around some I figured I might have fryed the tsop chip with my noobish mod attempts (I'm now much better  :) ). Does this sound like what the problem is? And can I find the original in the "usual places"?

Question On Flashing The Original Tsop Back
« Reply #2 on: January 15, 2005, 05:25:00 PM »

No, I never did write enable. Before I put the chip in it would frag. After the chip was in, it would boot fine with it on, but it would still frag with it off. It's a version 1.2/1.3. I had to pick off a piece of solder which had fallen into the grooves of one of the chips on the board. I think it may have been the tsop one. It isn't a huge deal, it's for my brother and he has a 2nd xbox to play live on, but I wanted to try and fix it so he could update the dashboard for a lan party if he needed to.

Ok, I've got the 5101. But, how do I go about flashing it? Can I do it without any additional soldering now that I've got the chip in?

Edit: I mean, flashing the tsop. I'd rather flash that if possible (and it's not any trouble).

You have two banks of BIOS in Xecuter 2.6 (2x 512K).  You can flash retail BIOS to one of the bank and use it as original.

Yes, I know..I was wanting to hang on to the cromwell on the 2nd bank, as long as the tsop flash was simple to do. If it involves opening the box again then I'll just flash to the 2nd.
