To make a long story short, I want to know if flashing the BIOS does anything to the hard drive: read on for the details of my situation. Oh, and I'd like to apologize ahead of time if this is answered in one of the tutorials, but I looked through them and all I could find were about doing it for the first time, which doesn't really address my concern.
Okay, I've had EvolutionX as my dash for far too long now, and I would like to switch to Avalaunch (that's not the important bit, though). I have X2 4981 in XBtool and I have everything set up and looking good, but I'm kind of worried this is going to mess up my hard drive. I have a 300 GB drive, so I figure for the LBA48 thing I should select "Partition 6 takes up to 137 GB/Partion 7 takes rest." This isn't going to format the drive or otherwise screw me out of my precious, precious data, is it? I haven't seen anything saying that it will, but I haven't seen anything saying it won't, either, and that worries me. When I did it the first time, I just used the BIOS file as it came (which turned the start-up movie thing blue, which annoys me) and I still had the original drive in it. After I flashed the BIOS, I used the Slayer's auto-install thing to prepare my new drive (then empty), but now that I have tons of stuff on the drive, this whole BIOS flashing business has me nervous. I suppose I could just put the old drive in and then do it, but I'd rather not open the thing up and mess around with cables and ribbons and what-have-you if I don't have to, so any answer in this regard would be greatly appreciated.
Wow that was a lot of typing to ask something that will probably have a yes or no answer.
