Could the bios be being loaded off the hd? cus it must be getting it somwhere, if so couldnt using the 007 hack( or somthing like it) somone design a program to instead of flashing, rewrite the bios??

I find it strange that MS would store there Bios on a chip(Xyclops) that could not be reflashed/reprogrammed. So if the Bios goes corrupt for any reason and the xbox is under warranty, you send it to them, they will simply give you a New Xbox (becuase I doubt they are going to go throught he process of replacing the chip, it would probably cost more) ? Never new MS was nice and not greedy

Hmm, I wonder if a brute force attack could be tried on the Xyclops chip if this were true. Sure would make my life easier.

True, but it would still be nice, then again, we don't even know if it is really flashable. Besides, 1.6s are crap compared to the rest of the revisions, ex. 1.1 (my favorite).

This may seem like a stupid question, but has anyone tried distributed computing to crack the xbox private signing key? Or would that not work.... Is it the right kind of encryption? Just thougt I'd ask.

Yeah, there is an active netowrk of computers trying to find the key, somewhere in xbins there's a program to help, but by the time they figure it out, its going to be 2008.
