Max # Of Times You Flashed A Single TSOP?
« on: August 23, 2004, 11:43:00 AM »

Just was wondering how much these TSOP can be re-flashed.  I heard that the TSOP chips are not as robust as the ones on modchips because they are not intended for re-flashing and they can be damaged from multiple flashes...  blink.gif

Maybe if you could post the TSOP brand too that would help...

You can flash the tsop around 100,000 times before it will fail.

The spec sheets usually say up to 1,000,000 times.

Whoever told you that $langer is just fucking with you wink.gif. The xbox TSOP is just like the type used on mod chips only that it has points on the motherboard traces that make it disabled. This is why people prefer TSOP a lot, it's basicaly just a mod chip once points enabled.

Yeah, $langer.. what are you talking about? Xbox mod-chips were created based on how the Xbox motherboard is made. If a mod-chip could handle reflashing, a Xbox motherboard should definitly be able to handle it. Especially since mod-chips are cheap and not as high quality as anything from MS.  wink.gif

Whoa, slow down!  You've already used up between 0.0001% and 0.001% of your chip's re-flashing lifespan! biggrin.gif

i Dont get it. What will mess up if you flash it like 100,000 times? I have my xbox flashes 99,999 times already, and that means my xbox will explode when I flash it one more time? WHATS GONNA HAPPEN?

(Aww. Just kidding about the 99,999 thing (Maybe ) ph34r.gif )

Nah the chip will just fail to flash properly and you will get a corrupt tsop.

I have flashed my over 50 times nothing bad has happend yet. Cant say anything will ever happen either. But according to murphy something can happen. That would be kinda funny if it exploded on the 100,000th or 1,000,000th time.

Thanks for all the replys guys.  I guess that stuff I read was just BS.  I still won't make it a habbit to re-flash my bios often though because I'm scared I might flash a bad bios and screw up my TSOP  blink.gif

Actually not true the oxide layer can break down from having electrons implated into it. Takes a long time but it can go bad.
