Yeah, there is a coating on the motherboard that makes it very hard to solder. It is like teflon almost, and its there for multiple reasons, but namely to protect against dust. All you have to do is scrape the stuff off with a paper clip. and if you're just scraping it off for a point to solder, you dont have to worry about messing the board up too much either. just scrape a line out going from the one point to the other. since you're creating a solder bridge for the tsop, there arent any traces in between, so you really dont have to be super duper mondo careful, but dont go crazy. Use your best judgement. It'll get all flakey and white when you're scratching it off, but its fine. you arent going to ruin your mobo.. but, just as a disclaimer, i take no responsibility.
