How To Get Solder To Stick To Tsop Points

I eventually ended up having to solder one end of a small wire to one contact, and the other end of the wire to the other conctact, even though the contacts are like 2mm apart... For the contacts on the bottom of the board (v1.0) I somehow managed to get a blob of solder between them, however this blob is much larger than I would like it to be...

So here is a question for you TSOP flashing Pros: can you give me any tips or methods that you use when bridgeing the contact points?  Is their specific solder or techniques that you use?

Thanks!

I was having trouble getting the solder to stick. Then I bought some soldering flux for a couple bucks and it worked great. Just put a dab on the soldering points and the solder will stick nicely. No big blobs of solder. Works for me.

I got mine from Walmart. Any hardware store should have it.

I suggest conductive paint/ink. This is the sure way to have no worries with stripping points, and briging points. The best part is that you can take the stuff right off with nail polish remover. This makes it so that no one will accidently flash your TSOP with something other than wanted.

i use kynar wire with NO solder. the solder on the w/e points is enough to make the connection. just bend about 1/4" of the end of the wire (bare) to make a 90 degree angle. then connect the tsop points and heat the wire up. snip off the excess wire with small cutters or nail clippers.

I've done about 20 or so tsops and have an easy method at least for me.  All I do is get a nice blob of solder on my iron, get my eyes down to the level of the board on an angle  where I can see the points and the iron together, hold the iron steady and slowly lower it straight down and line it up with the points.  Then I aim the blob of solder in the middle of the points and slowly lower it until the blob is touching both points and lift the iron straight up.  This creates a little mountain of solder between them and bridges them properly.  Hope that helps.
