My friends had someone flash his tsop and he installed the 2 switches for multibios. He also did it to a few other peoples he knows. Now there xbox's worked fine but after a couple months 2 of the people's mobo's just died. Do you think this is a issue with the switches ? or coincidence ?

it might be, using a higher voltage can increase the temperature of the MCPX, this can be prevented serveral ways

1: use 3.3v as opposed to 5v

2: put a heatsink on the MCPX

3: cut the a19/a18 traces going back to the MCPX

I have a v1.0 xbox (found out that the box does boot with modchip off, just had a dead DVD drive that caused FRAGing)

I want to have a multi bios setup with two bioses. One bios that I will use and flash ect. and another "backup" bios just incase I flash the first bios bad or something. For this setup I don't plan on switching between the bioses often, if ever, so I don't need a physical switch located outside my case.

What do you think is the best/safest way to accomplish this? How should I wire it up and should I bother with a switch?

you could just strap a19 to ground without a switch, then if you need to access you "backup" bank just change the wire from ground to 3.3v

its probably just as easy to install a switch, even if you dont mount it outside the case anywhere

BTW, i say use ground for the strapping as opposed to 3.3v because grounding seems to have less of an adverse effect on the MCPX

Wow that seems really easy. If that is the case then I would use a switch. So the Bios that I will always be using will be on the ground pin of the switch and the backup bios will be on the 3.3V pin, correct?

What is the normal voltage of A19 btw? It kind of scares me that I could damage my mobo by using a multibios... What exactly is the MCPX and by cutting the a19/a18 traces or by using 0 Volts (ground) almost all the time, wouldn't there be no voltage increase and therefore no heat increase of the MCPX?

just curious, it seems you know a lot about TSOP flashing, do you have a TSOP flash on your box and if so is it a multibios?
