from the looks of it he didn't even flash, it did it after he soldered, correct?

on 1.0/1.1 boards, the jumper on the bottom side is VERY close to a resistor. (as is the one on top but that one is USUALLY not the problem) seek in that general direction. I have had someone bring me a machine with the same story and that's what was broken, not even broken, just not making good contact. Laid some fresh solder/flux on it and it was A1 from there.

Yeah, I have desoldered, cleaned, resoldered, desoldered, cleaned, etc.....

I have not burned the pads off or anything.

Are there alternative bridge points? Or, I suppose I could just follow back the path of the trace, and do a wire patch....

But would that explain my inability to even boot with a chip?

So 1 on the top and 1 on the bottom.

But anyway, this has nothing to do with your problem.  tongue.gif

maybe dropped a bit of solder somewhere???  wink.gif

make sure none of the holes in the LPC are shorted together with a bit of stray solder

Thanks for all the tips, but I did it, and I don't know why it worked. Basically here's what I did tonight:

Cleaned and resoldered AGAIN.

Nothing. Damn.

So, I tried booting up without either drive hooked up, power or otherwise. And then, WTF!! it booted to the logo screen! Ok, so in a fit a joy, I hooked up the dvd from my box with the original hd from this box, loaded my 007 memcard, flashed, reboot with new bios with no hitch. Again, WTF. So, I hook up the original DVD drive, and now all of a sudden it works fine. So I put in the new HD, etc etc, and all is well.

In conclusion, I have decided to blame spongebob squarepants. When I finally got the drive to work, I opened it up and there was a spongebob disc in it. So I politely removed the disc, and decided that old SBSP must have been screwing with me.

Well, I showed his a$$.

i went back to look at mine (after i bought another board) figured out what happened. i am so usta hacking the 1.4's that i soldered for a 1.2+ TSOP meaning that the two points on the top were soldered (the C7C4 point shoudl not be bridged on a 1.0/1.1) then on the bottom there is a broken trace for the WE#-WR# connection however you can use the alternate R7R3 point to fix this
oh well selling the board on ebay now(8121114789) ...i dont have any spare cases so oh well....but thought i woudl post just incase anyone has the same issue. it will save you 80$
