what the xmas lights mean most of the time is that no bios is being loaded, this can be due to alot of different things ranging for a bad chip install to damage on the motherboard to a blank TSOP

QUOTE (Rustpuppet @ Jul 1 2004, 11:44 AM)
I bought it from electronic Boutique

you bought it as a used or refurb? take it back for a refund/replacement

if you bought it to repair it, well that doesnt make sense coupled with your desire to leave it unopened, so return it, lol

install a 10 dollar modchip, assuming its a TSOP error that will fix it

its when the bios is erased, but no bios is reprogramed, so theres nothign to boot with

it happens when the TSOP isnt properly write enabled during the flash, power goes out after erasing, or ive heard of staic discharges being able to wipe flash chips (seems unlikely, but who knows)
