Tsop Or Modchip?
« on: May 23, 2004, 04:31:00 AM »

Hi all,

Sure this has been covered in a topic already but buggered if I can find it in any search format. My situation is I've received so much information from here and so much information (misinformation?) from so called experts that I'm lost.

I've taken my X-Box apart, soldered the  point  R7D2 and R7D10 as shown in the tutorials, and tried to load the Slayer EvoX 2.5 Auto Installer, but it comes up with the message that the X Box doesn't recognize the disc.

My question is  - do I need to run the 007 Exploit to make the disc work? If I were to modchip the machine, would I then? Did I some how screw up the burn (used XISO on a 4x CDRW - 640mB Disk) Is there anywhere that I can get the exploit loaded onto my memory card in Sydney Australia as I know no one with a modded box down here!

Thanks for your outstanding advice this far!

Adam.

Adam.

Soldering the two points permits you to replace the contents of the TSOP (a flash memory chip) with a hacked bios/kernel version.

Until you replace it, your Xbox is no different than when you purchased it which is why Slayers refused to load for you.

You DO need to run SOME exploit to FLASH the TSOP -FIRST-, with a hacked bios.

Once this is done, you will be able to boot non-microshaft signed disks, including Slayer's and game backup. Until then only the originals will function.

Some modchips can be programmed "outside" of the Xbox.

With one of these you can flash the modchip with a hacked bios and then install it into the Xbox, so you will not need the 007 exploit in this case.

However, take a look at the Mega-X-Key for the Xbox.

http://www.megaxkey.com/

This device serves MANY purposes plus you get a nice USB-Xbox cable to boot.

You can load the Xploit onto the MegaXkey, and the Xbox will merely believe that it has a standard memory card.

When you are done, you can use it to transfer games, or to exchange saves from modded and non-modded machines.

The provided cable also permits you to hook up a USB keyboard OR a USB mouse.
