| The 1mb bios file would need to be off the form BIOS1 + BIOS1 + BIOS2 + BIOS2. You can put another switch on A18 to split it four ways too. |
Having done only LPC-mods earlier, I'm thinking about implementing this on a v1.0 (so I'm still reading up on the subject...)
I was under the impression that the VCC/GND switch only allowed adressing half of the memory, and thus one would flash with a 512K file? Or is the switch only for reading from the bios and when flashing one should always use a 1Mb file?
Other question(s) on the subject:
I read in the TSOP-tutorials about some problems using a bios that differed "too much" from the original bios. I guess forcing A19 to VCC takes care of that when using 2 different bios images, but what if I'd like to use 4 different bios images? Can A18 be switched between GND and VCC similar to A19, making just 256K of the memory visible - or would this fry the xbox?
If A18 cannot be linked to VCC, but only to GND like it's done in the "Split 4 Ways" tutorial, is it possible (still using the A19 VCC/GND-switch) to use 3 different bios images?
Is it only the original bios that checks the bios on the next 256K:s - or is this done by HW, so that non-M$ bioses also need to be paired?
I guess the question boils down to: Using 2 switches, can I boot from 3 different bios images in a bios file looking like
[ORIG + ORIG] + [BIOS2 + BIOS3]?
Or is it even possible to have [ORIG + BIOS1 + BIOS2 + BIOS3]?
