Raincoat... Still Works On A Brand New Xbox?
« on: May 13, 2004, 09:07:00 AM »

I have a 1.4 XBox. Many, many months ago I installed PBL on it then later flashed the TSOP. I've done the same thing to a couple of other Xboxes since then. Unfortunately, I kinda stopped keeping up with news on the scene... :(

Well, now a friend is wanting to buy a new Xbox and wants me to mod it. The PBL-->Tsop flash is too many hoops to jump through... right? I figured I'd just use the raincoat method instead. (I only own MA, so I'll have to go rent 007  )

Well, what are the limitations for raincoat? Will a brand new Xbox off the shelf work with it?  Or is there a certain version that it won't work on? What about the dash and kernal?

Thanks for your help...

First I recommend you download the newest raincoat 0.7 (it's in Exobex's signature).

Raincoat will work on any xbox 1.0-1.5, it will not work on a 1.6. Just put a 256 kb bios image on the memory card as raincoat 0.7 will autofill and resize a 256 kb bios. That means you can use the same memory card on 1.0-1.5 xboxes. Also make sure you use a bios which works on the xbox version M7 or 4979-4983.
