daring, particularly if one of those wires were to come loose while flashing

Yeah, no kidding.  I could just picture it....

Erasing.......... Oops slipped a wire off.. D'oh!
You'd have to beat your mom for that one!
(especially if she did it on Mother's Day!)

If it fails raincoat display an error
so I just have to replace the wires and try again
(of course I must not turn off the xbox!!!)

the whole process you are trying to avoid by flashing the tsop.....buying a modchip, because the tsop would be erased, or only partially written, then interrupted, leaving it incomplete (or empty), causing the need for a chip

Wow you have some guts. then again it would work if you do have someone holding it in place VERY carefully while you do this. still very daring.

but what if you want to flash again with a newer bios. i would hate to go through that stuff every time. too risky for my tastes.

if the TSOP is partially written, then raincoat will display an error message I guess
all I have to do is reflash isn't it?

thats incorrect

a tsop can be repaired if theres data on it

if u erased it, and didnt write anything to it its fucked
but if u erase it, flash it and lose it u can relfash it no problem

if u reboot when the data isnt complete u just use a homebrew or gen1 mod

The thing I always worry about is my router.  The power supply connection is EXTREMELY shitty.   It powers off all the time in the middle of system link games.  So, what if it decided to power off in the midst of flashing via raincoat?

i thought it didn't matter if it's whipped or not.. use a 29 wire modchip and load up your gamesave then cut you 2-3 wires.. then boom reflash.. wtf is this guy talking about? i've done it several times
