Raincoat Question
« on: May 10, 2004, 02:27:00 PM »

can we backup bios when write protection is on?
because I get an error message when I type :
./raincoat -r bios.bin

INVALID MANUFACTURER ID: 0x09

I have the Winbond W49F020T TSOP and I wanted to backup my bios before soldering...

one set of points is to read enable and one set is to write enable, so you need at least one set soldered (not sure which one) to read the bios

can't you just used 007 gamesave hack and evox to make a backup copy of your bios.. actually i think i've had all the bios files for a while now.. you can get them from the "usual places"

no, you do need to bridge the points to read the bios

oh.. i forgot.. honestly i never made a backup without already having brided both points.. i guess i was just to lazy to take the time to try.. i use to just dab,dab..boot auf load my gamesave backup then flash.. thanks for the info.. now i know if i ever try to bridge one point before soldering the other one? better off doin them both at the same time man.. use flux.. i really don't see why people come up with all these ways to flash without solder.. back in the day we only worried about alt soldering points for burnt points from enable/disable bridge points.. i guess it's all skilz..

jesus .. i wonder if i'm the only one that uses tsop sockets? i would say that is easier to reflash red/green but i'm sure people would look at me like I'm stupid.. i just hate 29 wire mods.. ordered a aussie mod, xray3.. still havn't used it.. i also kill boards when taking off ram by removing the pads from underneith the ram chips.. i just don't like to bend em..
