Bad Tsop Flash, Blank Screen, How To Recover ?
« on: March 17, 2004, 05:18:00 AM »

I have Xbox 1.5 and have the bigfont25 exploit with Phoenix 1.4.1 and EvoX 3935.
I tried to flash the TSOP from EvoX with X2 4981, but I kept getting the unknown flash type error, so I inserted the Slayer's EvoX 2.5 CD and chose 7-4) Flash 256K MOD or v1.2-1.5 TSOP w/ X2-4977.  It did something without error messages, and then automatically powered off.
Now, the Xbox is fried; all I get is a blank screen.
I recently ordered an Xecuter 2.3b Lite Plus.  When that arrives, is there a way to temporarily install the chip, properly flash the TSOP, and then remove the chip?
Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

X2 4977 doesn't have focus graphic's encoder support.  Which your box will have.  You needed to use 4979 or 4981 (or m7).  The Xecuter 2.3b Lite Plus will get the box booting (with the correct bios on it), but as far as I know at the mo, you can't use it to fix the bad flash.  If you want to save your tsop then you need a 29 wire homebrew.

[edit]
Just re-read your post.  I would guess the problem with flashing in the first place was probably because you have a winbond tsop.  So I don't know how slayers managed to flash it (or not as the case may be).

Don't people ever learn... do NOT flash with evox.. its not worth the risk! It takes just a lil more time to do it with raincoat and you are on the safe side. Also, the 4977 is not fully supported by the new focus chips, so flash you mod with a 4981. However, you probably fragged your xbox due to trying to flash with evox instead of raincoat.
