Do The Usual Places Have The Original Bios?
« on: March 10, 2004, 07:03:00 AM »

I installed a switch and TSOP flashed a friend's xbox, but I overwrote the entire retail bios.     I tried acquiring the original bios from "the usual places" and resizing it to 512kb, but I can't get it to flash right.  After I flash the original bioses (I tried both of the ones in the complex pack from xbins) the xbox frags.  I know I can flash both sides of the chip ok, because it flashes evoxM7 no problem.  If anyone can help, post or PM me.

What would the essential bios be for a v1.1 with an ST TSOP?

more general question, is there any decent way of figuring out what bios  a particular xbox came with ?

when I flashed mine, I had to remove a sticker from the rom chip itself to see what kind of chip it was.  the sticker had the bios version 3944 so I put the sticker back on, but I'd still like to know if theres a way to determine what the orig. bios version was if you've already flashed it

I believe you could look at the kernel/dashboard version number in system information and figure it out. 1.1 xboxes use 4817 or something like that.

Will the original dash still read that if you've already flashed the TSOP?

Why not just check it and find out, the kernel number will be different but the dash version should have not changed unless you used evox to upgrade it or something.

my tsop is flashed, and the MS Dash reports  Kernel 4980  because I am running x2 4981.06 flashed to tsop

this is not what it originally came with however,  it was 3944 i believe, one of the first xbox bioses
