Reverting To Stock From Tsop Flash
« on: March 05, 2004, 05:07:00 PM »

hey everyone, i am pretty new here, i flashed my tsop about 3 weeks ago and have decided i am moving on to a modchip. anywho i was dumb back then and didnt make a backup of my C:\ drive. I did however backup the bios, eeprom, all that goodness. I am going to flash my tsop back to the retail bios how ever in my c:\ directory i have all of the xboxdash files in 2 folders labled "xboxdashdata.17cdc100" and "XOdash" it did this itself somehow. i am wondering if this will hamper my attempt to go back to retail until i install my chip. or will i need to extract the files back into the root C:\ directory so that the files can be read? thanks

The best way to do this is to be sure of everything before you flash back to the original bios...

This is what I would do....Get the slayer's auto installer 2.5....Formatt the HD clean and then install the XBOX dashboard off of the slayer's CD.....Make sure before you flash that the HD is LOCKED.....and then flash back to the original bios...

Ok hold on a sec let me restate my question with what I already know.

I know that all the information in the "xboxdashdata.17cdc100" folder needs to be extracted out to the root of c: because it is all the audio stuff. (i looked at a c backup from another box)

I just need to know if the folder xodash,(That i received when my xbox downloaded the live update) has to be in the root of c: or if I have to extract the files out into the C drive root

basically I need to know if the folder xodash was created when the live update occured or if the files are supposed to be in the C: directory root INSTEAD of in the folder.

BTW thanks for the info BaD, I would have gone your way but I already figured out that the contents of the "xboxdashdata.17cdc100" have to be moved out into the root directory because it holds the folders like audio and the other xip stuff.

:P  hehehe. i just thought of a good idea. i could keep 2 copies of the files in the xodash folder, keep the ones inside. and keep another copy of the files in c:\ root

Just make sure it works before you flash back to the origianl bios or you'll have a problem then and you'll have to wait till you get your modchip to fix it...
