1.5 Tsop.. Protective Coating?
« on: March 02, 2004, 07:59:00 AM »

Ive successfully flashed my 1.1 xbox and now im trying to flash a 1.5 xbox for my little brother.    FIrst of all.  The diagrams i see seem to have 3 points...   Such as the one ive seen here...

http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/tsop-images.php

I connected these three points and the tsop is unrecognized by raincoat.  giving a dev=0x00..   I saw another pic that said only to connect two for the 1.2 and up.  Which is correct.. 2 or 3 bridges?

Secondly.

I read somewhere here in this forum that there is protective coating on the 1.5 xbox's and I should scrape it off first.  Assuming this is true.   How would i go about doing this now that the points are already soldered?   reheat the solder and scrape it off?   For some reason I cant get write access to the tsop and im not sure why.   I would like to just start over.  Is there a trick to getting the solder off?  This is a very easy thing to do yet it wont work.  Unsure why.

You only need the top two, the third bottom one is just the same as one of the top ones, if you follow me.  Some people say you need all three because one of the top ones wasn't connected properly.

By putting solder on you have probably burnt away the coating.  It is more important to scrape if you are using a conductive pen or defogger kit.  I have been told spinning a small drill bit between your fingers on top of the points is a good way to get rid of this film.

So I would resolder your points and try again.  Don't worry about the covering, i have never scaped it off, but I always solder.

Nah it wont flash.  even after soldering the points.   to make things worse the two metal things came off where the points were because i put too much solder on and tried to take it off.   Xbox still works.  Thank god.   Is it still fixable?  Do i need those little metal things.

I should just probably get a solderless modchip.

well if they came off youll have to look for alternate points, ill see if i can find pics, or you can just follw the traces out until you find a via or somethign else you can solder to
