Flashed, Then Turns On, Off (2x),red, Orange..help
« on: February 27, 2004, 10:36:00 AM »

I have flashed a few xboxes and they all fine but this (ST) is the first.

Here is the problem:

Soldered the 3 points (2 on top and 1 on bottom)
Loaded up 007AUF evox from hd
Flashed with 256K
Everything ok, machine turns itself off

Now when I turn on the machine, no video, machine powers on then off twice, then red, green, red,green....over and over.

Please help  :(

By all indications, this is a 1.2 or 1.3 but I don't know why it's fragging.  I know that if you flashed a 1.0 with a 256K instead of the 1mb, this would happen but I'm pretty sure this is a 1.2/1.3.

Futhermore, I thought about soldering 3 wires to fix a bad flash (if that's what it is) but the component labled C6R3 in the picture, is actually C6R5 on this motherboard, and it's completely different than the picture posted here:

Please help, I'm totally out of ideas.  Thanks in advance  :(

I had the same problem, everything seemed to flash but when I turned it back on I got that fragging that you are talking about. I had to install a X2 2.3b pro chip to get it working again. But I think what my problem was is I tried to flash my 1.5 with a older x2 bios. I have done another xbox the same way as the first one and I used the M7 bios and I made sure the evox.ini file had my particular tsop in there. But I think your problem was trying to flash an older bios to a newer console. Post back which bios you used and what version of xbox you have.

Do you know if the bios you had was the repack?

http://www.xbox-scene.com/bios_retail.html

If you read at the bottom of that link it will tell you why there was a repack of that bios. I am not sure if xbtools will tell you exactly which bios you have or not but it is worth checking to find out.

You might take a look at this, works fine for me and lots of others.

TSOP Flash All versions

The only version needing three points soldering is a V1.1 with a SHARP TSOP

honestly, i don't think it was the repack :(

is the x2.3b my only option now because i have 2.2 x2, will it work for me?

regardless, will this mean that this xbox can only have a modchip inside from now on or is a TSOP still an option once i install a x2.2/2.3

As far as I know you can use any LPC mod, you just have to leave the chip on it. You could get a 28 wire mod and reflash the tsop. I would just get another x2 chip like you have and install it. Then try again on another xbox. But if you are going to do that I would go ahead and order 2 chips so if you mess that one up you will have a backup solution.

the 2.2 will work fine if its a 1.4, if its a 1.5 youll have to solder 2 extra wires to power the LPC bus....lemme see if i can dig up the pic....

found it...i know it says aladdin on it, but it should be the same fix for any LPC chip
(IMG:http://www.chipzone.com/installation/xbox/aladdin/small-aladdin-15fix.jpg)

and BTW, the 4979 repack i belive was only because the .06 and .67 bios were swapped, it still should have worked, must have been a corrupt .bin or just a bad flash (happens sometimes)
