Chip Doesnt Support Reset?
« on: February 26, 2004, 01:13:00 PM »

Hello, I have used the Highway007/Mech installer on a couple xbox's, on this last one that I flashed with 4981 bios on a Ver.1.5 and when I go to install a game to the hard drive, it tells me this:

"Your modchip does not support the eject on reset trick found. Disc must already be inserted to install. "

I am not sure why I am getting this error. I have done a Ver. 1.0 with a 4976 bios and it allows me to do it. On this xbox it doesnt. I thought the 4981 allowed that option.

Is there a way to fix that so I can install games to the hard drive?

Thanks alot.

4981 does support no reset on eject, your fine, im guessing your using PxLoader, for whatever reason it tells me that every now and then too, you can still back up games to the HD even if you didnt have the eject fix (it woul sjust be annoying to back up 5 games at once cuz the xbox would reset each tiem)

I am using Slayers Evox auto-installer 2.1, so when I go to game management and it asks me to play, or install, that is when I get the error. I do have ftp access, I have never loaded a game that way, but I might have to try that. When you upload a game, and sorry if this is a little off topic, but do I just make a games folder in the E: drive, as a iso or what? Thanks again.

yeah, slayers 2.1 comes with PxLoader, when you rip a game with Px it will put it in E:/HDDLoader/PxGame0 then PxGame1, then 2 and so on

when you uplaod a game from your PC you i would put it in E:\HDDLoader and follow the Px naming scheme, so youll be able to access the game from Game Management

you need to extract the ISO (with craxtion or simplex) and FTP all the files

Well I figured out the problem, my 4981 bios doesnt have that feature on it. I used xbtools, a newer version of it, and that option wasnt checked. So that was a easy fix.

I enabled the eject trick option on my 4981 bios using xbtools.

Well after messing with it more, what I found is my retail drive wont give me the access to copy a game from game management using Px HDDloader versions 1.1 or up to 1.3, but a aftermarket drive after installing evox 2.1 or 2.5 will let me. I am guessing it has something to do with the retail drive that it comes with.

you shoudl still be able to copy a game, even if it says it doesnt support the eject trick, also, you might want to update the software, i think Px is on 1.3a now, the version on slayers 2.1 is like 1.0 or 1.1

Px HDD Loader 1.3a also shows this message.
Tested using a Xenium yesterday.
Under X2 4981.06 it whinges, plus it lets you choose partitions 1, 6 or 7, even though the hard drive is only 8GB.  All three partitions are shown with the same size.
Under EvoX M7 it runs perfectly.
