Reflash Bad Tsop With Matrix Modchip?

I flash my 1.4 xbox with an older 4777 executer2 bios that do not support focus encoder and now i wanted to know if I take the matrix modchip from my friend xbox and install it in my xbox will I be able to reflash my tsop with a good bios???
