so for a TSOP on a 1.0, all you have to do is write enable the tsop (which you do by soldering that wire right?) and then load up MA hack into evox, and flash the bios?

Not working for me. I read through the thread and didn't find anything. I am getting the error 21 ( and yes I transferred the gamesave from the memory card into the xbox). I have a 1.4 with ST TSOP. I tripled checked everythin g and everything seems fine. My soldering looks good. What can it be?

21 usually means the xbe isnt signed properly, this can be caused by cheap 3rd party memory cards, or newer versions of action replay software

hey
i think i have a bit of a problem, i downloaded the highway_007mech_flash_pack and soldered all the point correctly, i have a v1.1 with an st tsop, stuck a 256kb bios in 000000000 folder and flashed my xbox. i used mechassualt went to system utils and selected flash with eurasia a black screen came up with linux script running. then it said flash ok.... then power off... after a while it turned itself off and when i turned the xbox on i got the christmas lights syndrome. xbox turns on then off, on again and off, and the third time stays on with red and green flashing. nothing on tv screen the whole time.

i think it is because i flashed it with a 256kb bios instead of a 1mb (i have a v1.1 xbox)
iam i correct to think that that is why i get christmas lights or is it something else?

do i need to install a modchip to get it fixed?

Thanks

i would try the 3 wire trick. im not familiar with eurasia so im not sure if it resizes the bios but if it doesnt, im sure its fragging because the bios is the wrong size.
what bios did you use?

The Slayer's disc does detect which version and flashes correctly.

The TSOP 3 wire trick would definitely work for you: Hell you could even leave all 3 wires in place and use 256K instead of 1MB.

Okay I'm looking to do this to my 1.0 Xbox that is softmodded with a 160gb Western Digital Hard Drive. Soldering the 2 points will be very easy, but I have a couple questions.

I understand I will need to select 1MB BIOS. Is it safe to replace the BIOS in the Mechassault/007 save to be 1MB X2 4981 BIOS, or should I wait till it flashes first to upgrade?

I'm really scared to do this, because my friend tried this (not changining the bios but using this tutorial) on their xbox, selected the wrong option and when trying to install a chip fucked up the mobo with solder.....

P.S. I know some will say you dont need to flash you TSOP you're already modded, but I want the ability to change boot logo, configure new hard drives easily etc...

you need to solder wires to the top set of write enable points instead of just bridging them

like this
IPB Image

then twise those 2 wires together after booting

I was so pleased not to see a sharp in the v1.0 I got 2 days ago. I flashed it right away, doing it once was very easy and that was with the linux 007 one that I loaded with my soft mod from the udata folder on my v1.4 (freaking winbond) anyways after getting off the aerogel (will probably do it with any xbox I get as both I have were leaking, surprisingly the v1.0 was leaking less even being 2 years older and played to hell according to the original owner) Anyways doing that again wasn't hard. The ability to flash in evoX with my v1.0 was awesome, just popped in my slayers disk after I softmodded, flashed and that was it:) I know this is really old and everyone soft mods but I really think think the tsop is worth flashing. It was honestly my first solder job after removing the aerogel cap and it was easy, put it this way, if you can melt some solder on to the tip of the soldering iron and pretty much touch it on top of 2 metal points a couple times your golden. It's quite easy, once again, this may be old but if you have ever considered, it's plain awesome. The ability to pop in an auto installer at boot is awesome. It's just to easy to swap hard drives. I highly recommend it. I only wish I had gotten a xbox years earlier when more people still cared about it.
