And the reason its set up like this is beause the winbond wont let u do that.. so how bout you read the full tutorial first?

You are SOOO wrong - Raincoat 0.7 DOES let you do it for the Winbond.

I.e. you should only need Raincaot for EVERYTHING!

It is ILLEGAL to own or use EvolutionX (Evox)...

It PERFECTLY LEGAL to use Raincoat and PPF :-)

... so by using EvoX YOU are ADMITTING YOU ARE BREAKING MANY LAWS!

WFT are you being so painfully disparaging yourself then!

How about I release my Raincoat 0.7 / PPF loader that automatically works for EVERY MODEL of Xbox?

That might make more people happy :-)

QUOTE (mark876543 @ Feb 29 2004, 02:19 PM)
I am trying to flash my first TSOP, after doing several Xecuter mods.  I tested my Highway 007mech FlashPack (agent under fire save option) on my v1.5 modded box ( w chipp off) just to make sure it would load ok.  It works: when I load the save I get the evox menu and of couse if I try to flash the modded box I just get error about flash failed, which is expected because the unlock points aren't bridged.  But it seems to be loading just fine.

But on my friend's v1.0 box, I get ERROR 21, needs service, after loading up the gamesave.  I can't find any info on this by searching.

The chip on the v1.0 is an: ST  M29F080A.  How do you look up what size this is?  All I have found was in a readme file:
"AMD - Am29F040B"          = 524288  Bytes (0x80000)
"AMD - Am29F080B"          = 1048576 Bytes (0x100000)
"AMD - Am29LV800B"         = 1048576 Bytes (0x100000)
"FUJITSU - MBM29F040C"     = 524288  Bytes (0x80000)
"FUJITSU - MBM29F080A"     = 1048576 Bytes (0x100000)
"Hynix - HY29F080"         = 1048576 Bytes (0x100000)
"MACRONIX - MX29F022NTPC"  = 262144  Bytes (0x40000)
"Sharp LHF08CH1"           = 1048576 Bytes (0x100000)
"SST SST49LF020"           = 262144  Bytes (0x40000)
"ST M29f002BT"             = 262144  Bytes (0x40000)
"ST - M29F080A"            = 1048576 Bytes (0x100000)
"Winbond - W49F002U"       = 262144  Bytes (0x40000)
"Winbond W49F020"          = 262144  Bytes (0x40000)

This shows my ST brand chip as being 1mb.  So I plan to use a 1mb bios and evox.  But I can't get the savegame to load in the v1.0 box.

I soldered the 2 points together on the top and two on the bottom, per the v1.0 pics.  I didn't put the extra SHARP jumper because it's an ST not a SHARP. The v1.0 box boots just fine, it's just loading the savegame that causes the error 21.

ok wait two point sont he top? huh?

on a v1.0 its one on the top one on the bottom :|

as for the saved game maybe it is corrupted?

also MAKE sure u delete all other mech assault and 007 game saves first.. then upload the hacked versions

it jsut solves issues.. trust me smile.gif

One bridge (adjacent two spots, connected with a short, fine wire and solder) on the top and one on bottom.

For a v1.0 box with an ST m29f080a chip....  it says only the Sharp gets the extra jumper.  So if ST is another name for sharp that might be the misunderstanding. But I'm assuming ST is a brand and I'm not using the extra sharp jumper.

Well I did delete all saves on the card first before doing the copy.  And I don't think it's a bad save on the card because if I test this same process on the other box it goes right to the evox menu when I load the save, where I can select evox flashing or eurasia flashing.

What can cause error 21?  Anyone else ever see that?  It may be something to do with my soldering or with the version of box / chip... but I dunno what.  The soldering looks good, it isn't shorting anything.  And even if one place wasn't making contact, it seems like that wouldn't prevent the save from at least loading.  It just wouldn't flash, right?

Thanks Blue. Success at last!  In my noobish ignorance I overlooked the fact that you have to copy the savegame back to the hard drive, I was trying to load it straignt off the memory card, causing the error 21.  Once I did it right, it worked like a charm!  First time to do this....   easy once you have done one. beerchug.gif   Nice flash kit.

Good to hear smile.gif

READ ME:
* if sharp here's what you do
* first solder a wire to each of these two extra points.
* boot up like normal.. goto the evo-x dash setu form my game save.
* twist the two wires togethor and go flash.
* power off and untwist
* should work
* if you plan to upgrade your tsop flash. i'd recomend installing a switch. leave off at all tiems unless you are flashing. then follow above steps. but using a switch instead of twisting.

Its the "* first solder a wire to each of these two extra points." line that is misleading.  It should really say "solder a wire to each of the top points"  the way it reads now,  I would think you are just going over the info on the extra jump lead that the sharps require.

Cheers, however you might not agree with my change, a do think this is an excelent tut.

I originally made two points:

1) that EvoX has not required any padded 1024k bios in years.

2) that you do not need EvoX at all, and to instead use Raincoat for ALL chips.

You decried my thievery, yet admitted to no less yourself - absolute hypocrisy on a base level.

Evolution-X dashboard software uses illegally copied MS libraries, so do not preach to anyone else about unlawfull actions fella!

yes.

but eurasia and othres wont flash a padded 1mb to the earlyer versions

there for i would also need to tell newbies HOW to know when to change your bios's.

this way ev0x covers the first versionts and eurasia covers the others.

very well i COULD put a 256k in evo-x.. would save me space anyway lol
but evox wont cover winbond so eurasia is needed and eur will not cover the 1mb if its loaded with a 256k.. get my point?..

quick question bourke, what bios are you flashing with raincoat? i hope its not an illegal bios like x2 or evox

and i CERTAINLY hope you arent using this on an xbox, as that would violate the end user license agreement set forth by MS
