no..its not possible because the tsop is suppose to be write protected anyway.  Thats why you solder the bridges together. I suppose if they wanted to fight back modders with harm then they might do it?

MS would never do that. Even people with modded xbox's still buy games and use xbox live. Granted not as many games probably, but that's just a stupid move on their part. I'd say it's more likely that a pissed off coder would do it with a homebrew prog.

QUOTE (Hoowahman @ Feb 16 2004, 12:25 PM)
I have a few questions for flashing the tsop on all versions.  Why cant you use Evox to flash everytime with a 256kb bios?  Could I update the ini with this list http://www.xbins.org/iriez/tsop.txt?

Then it could flash every tsop and detect if its a 1MB or 256kb and will span the 256kb bios I supply correctly because Evox knows how to do that?

What is the problem in doing this? Just wondering.

Thanks

because this method is bloody simple

click the evox flash for a 1mb flash or the eurasia for a 256k

also evo-x can NOT flash the new winbond chips..

so i just say it this. way. it's simple. it's quick.

and since no one is replying saying it wont work im assuming the ass's who are clicking no are jsut trying to be ass's

this method works.. if you edit the ini's and hcange stuff and you mess up the flash don't run to us.

QUOTE
is it possible that future games could write data on the tsop while your not suspecting it?

edit: if the points are bridged

No thats illegal. MS is not allowed to write code to change your own hardware. as far as i know. And ben is right.. would piss ot many people off.

ohmy.gif Hello I'm new to xbox scene but not exactly new to xbox modding. I've done a few boxes and finally came to my first problem. I have a 1.4 xbox and its saying flash not writeable. I believe this is because i was using evolutionx dash to flash it and its a winbound chip. I was just reading about evolution x not writing to the winbound chips. I use the 007 evolutionx dash for my modding up to now. Using the 007 savegame what do i need to either add to it or get additionally to flash the 1.4 TSOP? Also what is the recommended bios to run on it with the focus chip onboard?

                   Thanks in advance, Kaerf2000

what you need to do is download 007withraincoat.zip from xbins and flash the chip using raincoat (linux tsop flash app). Make sure the file has all the updated chip hashes so it will work. I'd recommend the latest xecutor 2 BIOS, version 4981.

yes, for eurasia it must be bios.bin in the 007 dir with the eurasia.xbe

eurasia is only required for winbond tsop's (1.4,1.5)

Can more than one bios be put in the eurasia location? or for evox?  For example 4981.06 & 4981.67.  For small hard drives you need .06 but for really large ones you must use .67.  (I tried .06 for a 320GB drive but the data corrupts when 250GB full unless you used F&G.)

But since for Eurasia you must rename to bios.bin I guess you can't put both.  What about evox, if there is more than one bios does it let you select which to flash?

Great tut and flash kit.   Is its Eurasia based on raincoat 0.5?  or 0.6 or 0.7?

no no your ev-x should be using a 1mb bios

You obviously haven't realised that the Evolution-X (Evo-X) dashboard has always written 256k bioses to 1024k flash ROMs?

I.e. when you flash a 1Mb chip with a 256k bios Evo-X _AUTOMATICALLY_ writes it for times!

Evo-X has done that for years dufuses!

Therfor only morons use 1024k bioses (unless you want to multi-bios)!

cheers,
Bourkie

100 successful flashes and counting... i know 'cause I still have all of their EEPROM keys ;-)
