Tsop Flash ALL Versions.

thanks for your reply, but i'm a little concerned about which points I should use:
user posted image
on this image of the top of the xbox do i use the top left hand corner points or the ones in the green circle.
The "Flashing TSOP With ANY Version XBOX (V1.0-V1.5) For Noobs" tut says I can use the points on the top of the motherboard, is this wrong?

Have a problem now with a version 3 as below in the flash log

-[ 007 TSOP Flash Kit v1.0 alpha 6 started: Mon Jul  5 06:53:11 UTC 2004 ]-----

raincoat Flasher  0.5  [email protected]  (tsop version by [email protected])
Checking for raincoat.cfg...
(Unable to open raincoat.cfg, using internal list)

UNKNOWN DEVICE manf=0xAD, dev=0xB0
Try adding the device ID to raincoat.cfg

UNKNOWN DEVICE manf=0xAD, dev=0xB0

Is it possible that the solder points are the cause? I have ran out of ideas as I used this exact method and saved files used to do my other box

many Thanks for any help

Great work tho guys

OK, a few things.  Awhile back, someone was asking about using the Platinum version of a game... let it be known, you can only use the original version of the MechAssault game - both the Game of the Year edition and the Greatest hits version are fixed to not allow these save games to do their thing (get a used version, check the laser serial number on the back... I don't remember the exact numbers of good vs. bad, but I know the "bad" has 08 near the end, while the "good" has 01... I'm sure if you search for it, you'll find the exact codes).

Next - to the guy asking about putting in the new HDD... you have to flash your BIOS first, otherwise when you put in your HDD, the Xbox will whine at you.  If I'm wrong about this, my most sincere apologies, but I'm under the distinct impression that until you flash your BIOS, putting in a different HDD will cause problems (since the new HDD won't know what to do with the game).

Lastly... I decided to get an Xbox... and I'm a bit of a geek so I decided to see what there was that could be done to make it ... "better."  Now, I've found all these posts, and read all this stuff, and there's some great tutorials, but here's my issue... I have a v1.6 Xbox and I don't want to use a modchip.  What the hell do I do to flash my BIOS?  I've heard you can't use the "old" versions of various BIOSes, they don't work with the new video encoder (?).  If you've got links, etc to another site, please please please help me out and post them here.  I've got minor issues reaching about 90% of the sites that have to do with Xbox (I don't have internet at home ATM and my work blocks all sites that have to do with Games, among other things), but if enough get posted, one of them is bound to work for me.

Anyway, this is a great tutorial, I have no doubt if I had an older box I'd be able to do all this in about 12 seconds... but of course I had to get a new one and I'm at an impasse... so any help is appreciated.

Ciao!

Hey, I was looking at your TSOP guide and only one part was confusing to me.  Under step 4 when you wrote:

"you will need to copy the 007 and the mech assault hacked save files to the xbox."

Which 007 file were you talking about?
Do I need to use both the Mech Eurasia and the 007 file?

Thank You in advance
Also: After i have everything setup and finished, do i unbridge the points? Or leave them connected?

Thanx

I have finally found retail kernel 5101, and am about to flash a TSOP with the original retail kernel 5101 so I can install a mod chip at a customers request....  I have no idea why, but this is what he wants.

I have downloaded Mecheurasia too, but have just noticed something.

BTW, it's a Winbond TSOP 1.4/1.5 (focus chip), and the top solder points are still bridged which is cool.

Now, I am looking at the folders in this mecheurasia folder and I see that one of the folders in his E:/UDATA is already labeled 4d5300017

Inside that are two more folders:

59E5F0453F4D
62D648EBF155
and three files:
SaveImage.xbx
TitleImage.xbx
TitleMeta.xbx

Inside the 62D648EBF155  I see a couple folders, and one o fhtem is named BOOT and one raincoat.  Inside raincoat is an X2 bios.

If I just replace that X2 bios with 5101, can I just run raincoat and flash the TSOP?

If so, any direction would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for the noobness, but this is the first TSOP flashing I have ever dealt with.

Actually, I went ahead and backed up the folders in question and wiped them clean.  Then FTP'd the saves in mecheurasia over to the E:/UDATA folder.

Popped in the mechassault game and continued.

Got it up and running and selected:

System Utilities, Flash with mecheurasia.  It went through its song and dance, but says failed to flash.

Turns out, I had the bios still named 5101.bin

Changed it to bios.bin and joy...

sheesh
