most all the 1.5s ive seen have the older thompson drive in them.

you might try to say upload the dash again, both xbox and evox or mxm whatever you plan on running.  if that dont work try flashing the tsop with say x2 4981.06 , see if it helps ya any.

oh also , if its only freezing when there is media in the dvdrom drive, then try and boot the msdash and make sure the time is correct..

the bios in the TSOP could be corrupted.....don't ask me why but let me ask you this...how cold is the wether outside in your area???

i ask this because if you leave your xbox in the cold for too long...temperature do funny thing to electronics... had a corrupted eeprom due to cold wether (-30c  i am in montreal)....they guy had left his xbox in his car and went to a club and the next thing he knows is some games boot (amped) but others don't...
so i reflashed the eeprom and everything was fine..

good luck

Emm... I station on Okinawa, Japan so the cold wouldn't be a cause. You said you flashed the EEPROM?? Do you mean BIOS?

I would have to find someway to boot past the XBOX LOGO screen and then load up a flash utility. I think the only way would be with an home brew 29 wire mod chip..... damnit! I didn't want it to go that far!!!!...

Still looking for another solution if possible...

Sorta Good News...

I got the box to load up to the MS DashBoard, but it still would not play any games or run anything else. If I stuck a backup into the drive with on Dashboard it would just freeze at the game loading screen. If I stuck it in and turned on the power it would keep rebooting itself and not even pass the loading screen.

Has anyone been through this or found a solution??

I can't flash the EEPROM cause I can't run a utility that would be able to flash it.

Reflash TSOP?

Hotswap the HD or if you have the key unlock it and put evox on there. Load that up and reflash.

i spent all night trying eveything i could to get it working even to the point of installing a 29 wire homebrew chip with no joy at all
i spent a few  days on forum askin if this had happened to anyone else with no joy

in the end i replaced the xbox for him as no matter what i tried it wouldnt boot
i tried lpc i tried x2 chip and homebrew all failed
i put it down to a faulty xbox in the end

UPDATE!

Thanks for all your replies...

I just recieved a 29 WireHome brew. Installed and it booted up fine to a really old Evox dashboard. Then I went into the MS Dashboard to upload raincoat 007 AUF hack. Upload went fine. I'm feeling good...

Until I stuck the game in.... It froozed at th loading screen.

I put the Slayer disc in....

and it would keep rebooting...

I think it is the EEPROM. I just don't know how to fix it on a v1.5 machine...?? Is there even a fix or am I just screwed an have to buy this customer a new box?

BIG UPDATE

The XBOX was able to run a old evoX dash as I stated earlier. It also could run Config Magic. I went into a v1.5system that I had laying around and put config magic in it also(I thought they were only for 1.0 and 1.1??) backup a EEPROM of the good system. I then uploaded that into the freezing box. Use the update option in Config Magic and everything worked fine!

Now I have to post a motherboard for sale... hahahaha.. naw... I'll probably keep it as something to fall back on...

Thanks for your help.... that to those that helped.
